My two cents would be that two apartments are generally better than one, and the decision really comes down to whether you feel you can afford it and justify the extra cost. SF, Yummy, and ofs all indicated that they prefer not to have the other partner (and clients) around, and I tend to agree.
2 bedroom with a partner is fine, just don't schedule clients at the same time and when one has an appointment, the other should go park at a coffee shop, hit the gym, whatever. Just don't be there.
