There are no structural steel manufacturers,(angle, channel, H-beam etc), in the US. Even the American owned companies are nothing more than distributors and warehouses for steel made in China, India, and Eastern Europe.I beg to differ. US Steel makes steel all over America, including Gary, Indiana, where I have personally seen the steelmaker in action.
The EPA is the culprit.
Our last major tool steel manufacturer, Crucible, went bankrupt a few years back. All "Crucible" steel is now manufactured in China, and sold under the Crucible name in the US.
I own a manufacturing facility, the majority of our steel comes from Eastern Europe, Ukraine in particular.

Mr. Trump could buy American and I wish he would, but the Chinese exploit labor, devalue their currency, and pollute like motherfuckers. A strong negotiator could change that equation, making American steel more competitive.
