My POV shows that it doesn't matter what great powers think. The people involvedwant their say. Who cares if France & GB weren't involved, The N & S had their say, fought a war, and the N won. All the countries involved in Vietnam, "Great Powers" made a decision to split in two, the Viet people said Hell No!, "Great Powers" fought a war costing 55,000 US lives, Vietnam is one country, one flag. Caring or not, it didn't matter in the choice to secede. It mattered on how the war played out, not in whether or not there would be war.

Remove the Soviet Union and the Chinese and there would have been no Vietnam war. Following a diplomatic course that kept France and Great Britain on the sidelines went a longways towards Mr. Lincoln achieving the victory he aimed for.

Just a thought on the swastika.

I was watching the History Channel and the commentator stated that Hitler studied various symbols before deciding on the Swastika. But what he did to transform it into the visually striking symbol was turn it 90 degrees.

It's amazing what that simple turn did in transforming a rather benign symbol into one that defines hatred, racism, anti- semitism, and murder.
