In a few weeks my incall community is changing to a platform where the only way you will be able to enter the complex gate & entry doors is by downloading an app. I then give you a code which will unlock the gate/doors.
They are doing away with the callbox/fob system 100%.
Would you be okay with downloading the app to your phone to access the community?
I have never heard of this before, so this is all new to me.

Pro's - you can have friends drop by because once they have the code they have it.. unless it changes daily then they have to get a new one from you.
Cons
What information is transmitted BACK to the server via the APP? What data does it collect?
They see your code which could be something like 123#34867 (the 123 is your apartment and the numbers behind the # change daily)
but they see your apartment giving out codes to people or your code is being used by phones NOT owned by you. Cell phones have unique identifiers like the ESN and MAC address of its wifi adapter.
and you have to consider clients who use a "hobby flip phone" which cannot use apps
now if you can open the gates with yours for them then the app is turning your phone into a FOB
