The problem here is that it’s no longer 1965, Times have changed, The country is different, but some amongst us want to take us back to their version of an idealized society where everything was great. (according to them)exactly. The evangelical grip and christian nationalists are driven by the morality of a book. The same book that talks about stoning a person for being lazy, working on the sabbath, planting crops of different nature side by side, for adultery, for being disobedient etc. I don't have a problem for folks who like going to church or reading the bible. It's a book written by men.
I’m not sure what the solution to our country’s problems are but I have real doubts that a religious pogrom is the best idea. My biggest problem with Charlie Kirk is the way religion was being used for political purposes. Originally Posted by txdot-guy

There was a reason the founding fathers said there needs to be a SEPARATION of church and state. Those who persecute by words or by actions in the name of religion are doomed to experience the same in retribution. It's weird to me that people forget that, normalize it, and accept it as being ok. Nothing wrong with being moral- but when it crept its way back into public domains with the 10 commandments or in school prayer etc., it's not hard to see how evangelicals decided to pounce on that as is in their doctrine to spread the word!!
Save it. I am fine with you celebrating your beliefs any way you want to personally, but forcing those ideas on others, is a recipe for bad actions. CK liked to use the bible which he knew well enough, to assuage or silence others. You'd have to accept the bible as all truth and knowing and of good nature to believe all those quotes.
Last time I checked- stoning your neighbors or your kids or people who are lazy will land you in the state penitentiary. Unless you christian folks are ok with that solution and want to roll back to say the times where that' was the actions that were acceptable. Forget your gun rights tho-..wasn't none of them back then.
