Kirk was well known in the very youngest generation. People over 35ish before this probably didn't know a lot about him. Maybe even as young as 25 or 30. His influencing has only gained popularity in the last few years and almost all was college age focused. So the further removed from college someone is the less likely they even knew much about him. It is just a sad state in America when someone is killed for stating an opinion as several have in the above posts. They did not kill each other when they wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776 amid different opinions. Look at the John Adams DVD, read his writings as well other founding fathers. Our leaders/teachers have not done a good job if we accept killing when we express an opinion.
