On Phones...

@ Captain Naughty "Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after you." Or better yet, my Uncle's favorite saying, "If ifs and buts were like candy and nuts, we'd all have Christmas every day." I also see that you're still premium access-less... hmmm... veddy interesting. Mightn't it be because you logged in with your regular phone?!?!?!?!
Seomon, Yossarian was the smartest man in that book; and if you're doing a Nirvana reference instead, that is just lame. The thing about old timey wisdom, is that the old timers that gave it are dead; it didn't serve them too well, did it?

@ Captain Well, if you live forever, I'll hail you as a GENIUS!!! As far as I know, everyone dies (my Uncle still breathes though, ) And, I'm sorry you hate Nirvana, dude. I think they rock!! LMAO Don't take this too personal (this should be all in good ribbing) but you have to admit, your scenario is like a one in a million hit. If what you say were true, every dude who had visited the working ladies who had been murdered in the northeast over the past couple of years would've been outed.... Whatever, never mind.
Yeah, Nirvana does suck. And I get you are giving me a healthy ribbing. And please don't take me for a nut, I don't think the scenario is one in a million, maybe one in a 100 thousand; but the chances of this sort of thing happening get greater and greater every 6 months or so. Why did the moderator post the about LE having a provider's cell and computer in the alert section unless he felt that it was important in the first place?

"Just be smart is all I'm asking." - a message from your friendly supposed LE/provider posing as a client/pimp trying to get more business for his client... Captain Naughty
Relax, we're just poking fun at ya! Being safe is a concern for everyone in this sub-culture and we appreciate your advice.

Hmmm... I wonder though, it's not like you can dial information to get what number belongs to someone... And only if you post it on-line somewhere can someone google your cel phone to find it belongs to you... I guess if you were caught by LE... but if this is the case, they still can trace the phone back to you... I don't get it... cel phones don't have caller id... at least mine doesn't. For example, if you buy the phone for cash and at a latter day add minutes to the phone with your credit card, they have all of your credit card information instantly and know who you are. If you use a different credit card with a different ID on that phone at a latter time, they know instantly that the cards are issued to different parties and will quiz you about why their is a difference and now they have both cards and both sets of information tied to that phone.

If the phone company has the information, LE can get it. Right now there is a case being litigated concerning police examining the cell phone of people at all car stops. The device can get all of the information off of a phone, even that information that was erased. They can do it while you are stopped. This is not yet in KC, but several cities have it. The answer is to turn your phone off and remove the battery. Even a device that is off, is still hot.

Always pay cash for your additional minutes. Use a fake address when you pay cash, they do not accept PO Box addresses. Be ready to answer the quiz when you buy additional minutes for cash.

If LE has your phone number in a provider's phone. They have you.

LE doesn't need to look at google to see who you are, they can subpoena the provider's phone company to get your name.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...2202025AAkyJ1b

They can call you from the provider's phone and get your GPS location.

Moved to Co-Ed... why? Well it obviously isn't an alert... but hopefully someone finds something beneficial by the posting.

How to Use a Burnphone Wisely

- do not register/create an account with any pay-as-you go phones.
- always pay cash for more minutes.
- only turn on the burn phone when needed.
- handle as much of your communication thru an on-line web-browser.
- turn on your phone approx 1-2 hours before appt.
- turn off your phone approx 1-2 hours after appt.
- do not store anything in contacts.
- delete your call history often.
- keep battery separate from the phone during down time.
- if you find an ATF, set up a Safe word for texting/emailing. Find a simple word you will both remember.
I don't know if this is an alert or not. But due to Alert of LE having a provider's phone. I'd like to ask who is dumb enough to use their normal cell to talk to providers???

Here's a tip, go to walmart and get a pay as you go phone for such things. They are 30 bucks, some of them are 30 bucks with 200 minutes included. Pay cash. They are untraceable. I think LE can ping the general area you are in, but can't get a true location. Use the phone for a couple of months. Destroy the SIM card, throw the phone away. Buy a new one.

If I'm wrong about this, please inform me. Originally Posted by Captain Naughty

How does doing this avoid leaving tracks? You still have metadata left behind on the device.

They don't but you may get a call from them. They can find call records and see when and if you called or talked and if something bad happened may question you about it as to why you talked to this person on such and such date. If they bust the provider and get the phone they may call to try and set you up. It's always very possible that hey I ran into this person out at a club, that was the number they gave me and they told me to call them sometime.

Just curious. Just because you are in a provider's phone, how exactly do they "have" you? Originally Posted by Ran244th

Use CCleaner or similar program to remove metadata and other stuff.
