Are Women Smarter Than Men?

There is certainly a difference between intelligence and education which is essentially what you are alluding to.

However, I think that discrepancy runs through both genders.

Right now, we are looking at the difference in intelligence between men and women.

One thing I thought I should mention is that I have met some very intelligent people both men and woman who have NO common sense what so ever. They lack social skills. They can tell you everything there is to know about many things yet they are lacking in other areas traumatically. Example: I know a gentleman who has never been hunting or fishing, never been to sporting event or concert. He has never been married and has not dated in 10 years (Watches porn!) Yet he knows everything there is to know about tax shelters and investing. Big difference between being smart and being worldly! I've done a little research on this in the past. While it's true that men score higher on IQ tests, it has been noted that the questions are more geared toward their type of intelligence. It seems that due to the way we have evolved in our roles, men have a tendency to score higher in spatial insight and math. Something to do with being hunters and providers.

Anyway, I think I also remember that if the questions on the test were more equally distributed to fit both sexes, than there would not be much difference, if any, in the actual intelligence of the sexes.

I suppose we could discuss this mystery at length and still not come up with a definite resolution to the question of which gender is smarter.

My personal notion comes from an evolutionary POV, that men were the hunters/gatherer's and whatever the genetic component for longevity was never able to manifest itself because many (my own conjecture) males would have been killed off either through battles for resources or hunting. The surviving male would have carried the traits of speed, agility, aggressiveness and the like. The individual that survived youth would eventually be plagued by his injuries and die earlier then females. I don't mean to imply that this amount of time is of enormous consequence. Also one must consider the hormone and corticosteroid Testosterone. Corticosteroids are hard on the body and the male body is flush with these. Testosterone is a primary hormone that controls other corticosteroids.

Or it could be that men drink more booze and eat more red meat.
