OK Ladies & Gents, here it is, let us know if you reside in the Eastern part of New York State, Due EAST of Rochester, beginning in the Syracuse area probably is a good starting point not including NEW YORK CITY as they have their own section. Syracuse, Watertown, Hudson Valley/Albany area. Providers please indicate that you are a provider. Include in your responses:
  1. the town you represent
  2. If you are a provider
Also lurkers, please respond, your input will be greatly appreciated!

Lets see what the response is.

Not a provider

On a note on this topic. I would hope Syracuse would stay with Rochester and Buffalo because we see a lot more of the ladies from there and travel through there in Syracuse. While there are many in the HV region I Would love to see It seems That the several I have reached out to in the past are reluctant to travel west because They think they cab do better in their own region or in NYC I would like to see this change but Syracuse is a tough place to hobby and I think getting out in that region jwohld leave us as the "red headed step child" and potentially stuck between both regions. Just my 2 cents.

Disclaimer: no offense was intended for any red headed step children out there.

I think this Roll Call should only be used to identify any interest for Providers and help the providers know the location of the Hobbyists so that they can plan their travel within the state.

It should also help the Hobbyists to know where the providers are.

The traveling providers that are based in Buffalo or Rochester come to Syracuse anyway ! (Thank you for your kindness ladies, it is much appreciated)

The Question that I believe was asked in another thread by Chloe and Brooke was "Is there interest in Albany for them to travel there ?"

Separation weakens us and we are much more affective as ONE Upstate New York Group.

Please stop thinking of this as a WNY Only group !!!!!!

Albany area

As a long time member of bgfe and recently getting started here, I wonder if Albany will get lost again if there is a seperation of Hudson Valley from areas west of Albany. On the other board the upstate area is dominated by members from Westchester County up to around Kingston. There are a couple of regular posters from the Albany area, but not many. Here upstate is pretty well defined as Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. Once again Albany is the forgotten bastard step-child. Where are all the other albany dudes posting????

Ditto on what CNYM said. Splitting up the Upstate NY area is a very bad idea.

Per the official NYS Visitors guide, New York is broken into 11 regions.
If you call NY City and Long Island Downstate NY, then the rest are called Upstate NY That includes the Hudson valley area.

Rochester and west including Buffalo is Western NY
(Note that Syracuse and Rochester are both in the Finger Lakes Region)
Syracuse thru Utica is Central NY
Watertown and north is Northern NY (North Country)
Cortland and south including Binghamton is Southern NY (Southern Tier)

Schenectady to Albany is Eastern NY
South of Albany is the Hudson Valley

We are all UPSTATE NY, IMHO

New York Counties & Regions

1 Westchester County- White Plains
2 Hobbyist

I would love to see a board added for Hudson Valley. It could include areas of Albany, Newburgh, Fishkill, Poughkeepsie, White Plains, Yonkers, Rockland County, and Stamford, CT. With time, I believe this geographical area would do very well with traffic. We're talking about a demo of 3-4 million people, maybe more. Yonkers itself is the fourth largest city in the state.

Syracuse here..
Rochester here.

I don't think it would be good at all for the providers, based on the following:
"Provider Ads - Upstate New York The following usergroups may post one ad per week in up to 5 city forums: Verified Provider, Agency, Advertiser-Provider, Advertiser-Agency, Verified-Limited, and ECCIE Sponsor"

That means that the providers would have to post twice to cover the same area that one posting now covers. This forces them to give up a potentially valuable posting slot. This may not mean much to local providers, but consider the touring provider coming thru NY, now needing to post three ads instead of the current two to cover the state. Also consider that posting twice (or 3 times) takes more time.

Just my $0.02...
1. Syracuse. Soon to be Buffalo.
2. I will provide a BFE for the WNY ladies who can't make it over to see CNYM
