How could you say ghetto schools, when ghetto schools arent the ones on the news shooting up schools or the great topic "teachers sleeping with students". There are more recommended prominent schools out there that sweeps controversial situations under the rug or pay off families with hush money. People go to school to learn not to be in a concentration camp or need prison like environments. I would be better off home schooling my child then to have someone that doesnt love my child like i do responsibility of him/her. To trust an adult with your child is big so you expect different of both parties. Originally Posted by SunniD

I don't get why the Cop felt it necessary to act with force.. consider an armed Man holding his family hostage inside their home.. or a "person of interest" getting interrogated during a Police interview.. both of those situations are allowed to drag a long time, with patience practiced by LE.. the idea is to wear down the other party. the same patience should have been afforded this situation.

why escalate a disruptive student situation the way the Officer did? because it was so important to resume today's lesson about Lewis and Clark, or about who invented the Cotton Gin? no, because the system is annoyed by bratty behavior, and is not equipped to deal with it properly.

alternatively, continue the class while she fiddles with her fucking phone.. not hard.. I've been in classrooms with much more disruption, that continued successfully.

Goon just wanted to show her he was Boss..

It's too bad her parents didn't TEACH her that before she started school.

Oh, here's a scenario along your line of suggestion:

Next day: Student meeting before class: "Ok, who is going to disrupt class today so we don't have to do anything while we wander around in the school looking for an empty classroom? And while we're at it, who will disrupt tomorrow?"

Jesus....you all act as if showing something other than violence and a totalitarian police state is the only way to live. Ya'll would make great lil communist!

How about showing the class that adults have the ability to reason and de-escalate certain situations. By giving them the tools many of you blind sheep seem to lack they could then pass that on to others.
If it was a white girl that cop rolled across the floor, not a word from the national media party would be heard. This is a astro-turfing distraction...

Lets take your logic to it's logical extreme, one person can disrupt a class, the entire class has to move, this takes time. At the next classroom, someone else disrupts the class, and the class has to move again. While changing classrooms you have to pass other classes moving to avoid another disruptive student. You'd spend the entire day changing classrooms.

Just because you expect violence without total submission does not mean that some actually think showing by example how to deescalate a situation is a good thing.

Sad, of course, because we indeed are all a bit racist (and sexist, and ageist). There is power in knowing, fortunately. Those gut feelings do well up from time to time—you walk through town late at night, a tall black man approaches, you feel like crossing the street, and you realize you wouldn't have this feeling this if the man were white. See these gut reactions for what they are: Responses you've acquired from too much exposure to your culture. What's important is ultimately not what you feel, but how you deal with those responses, how you transcend them to meet your neighbor as a real human being rather than as a member of a category.
