Did Texas "Re-open" too Soon?

So what I hear you say is that unless you have been tested positive for the Chinese virus from Wuhan, China, then you don't have it. Wouldn't that also mean the test causes it? Wouldn't that also mean that everyone in the entire country would have to be tested everyday for evah?

No! The math is people who die from the Chinese virus from Wuhan, China compared against the population. Then you have to sift through the deaths to determine if in fact the Chinese virus from Wuhan, China is the cause of death versus being present at the time of death..

Using Dallas Morning News numbers (1434 deaths, 51929 cases), the mortality rate (1434/51929= .0276) for Texas 2.76%.

I'm not on a "plant based" diet (if that means vegetarian).

I consume little beef. I eat chicken and fish . all baked/broiled.

With vegetables and fruit daily ... the latter laced with yogart.

Eating out is a challenge at times, which includes traveling and eating at friends' houses. But I'm there.

I have friends who are not. Originally Posted by LexusLover

Personally, I have little to no restrictions in my diet. I eat fast-food but limit it. My downfall is drinking non-diet colas and my blood sugar is high but not in the danger zone. All other metrics are great, including a resting heart rate in the mid 50s. I do not monitor my vital signs, other than heart rate while exercising, more than a few times a year. At some point in time, maybe the very near future, my diet choices will start making a negative impact on my life. Until then, I eat what I enjoy.

Not to hijack the thread but I worked at the Dr Pepper plant back in the 70s. A fresh bottle off the line is incredible.

Do you feel better? I hope so because I feel your pain.

Do you mind letting me know what your other handle is so I know why you are so sassy about my basement because it is certainly not worth 10% of your posts in a few hours of your 30 posts in almost 7 years since your join date. Just come clean so I can know who has a hard on for me. Don't be scared. Just be honest. I don't give a fuck about anyone's basement but my own. Why do you care so much about my downstairs 2nd living room? LOL Originally Posted by Lucas McCain

Anyway, no more nonsense from you. I welcome you to believe whatever you want about me. You are definitely a complete waste of my time. You can keep talking about my basement if you want to. Shit, I'm not trying to go back to 1st grade with you. This is really dumb. I know my house. I paid for it and I live in it and I have a clown on a whore board arguing with me about my own house that he has never seen. Yeah, that's normal. LOL

By the way, the purple is cute. It's my little girl's favorite color.

It kind of cracked me up listening to her because I was just drinking a 20 ounce bottle of diet coke a day. I was just kind of like, "you are much worse than me and my one Coke. Why are you giving me health tips?"

Moot point. The number shown isn't a "crude mortality rate" anyway. It only uses one cause of death.

Since we were discussing the virus, my equation mentioned cases and the "crude" rate is for all deaths over the course of a given time period for a given geographical area and really has nothing to do with this, it is obvious which one I was referring to.

Sorry you were confused.

That you randomly tossed out the numbers with evening putting any context into it shows you're level of discussion(or lack thereof).

You indeed were using the Case Mortality rate and the graphic I mentioned was the crude Mortality rate for Wuhan virus.

Which simply puts us again as people will use or reference whichever statistic or "rate" that best supports what they are trying to argue.

And that none of them are "accurate", just numbers being tossed about to make political hay at this point.

And just for your edification, crude mortality can indeed be a single cause over the entire population and seemingly you knew what graphic I was discussing after all.

https://ourworldindata.org/covid-mortality-risk

The crude mortality rate – sometimes called the crude death rate – measures the probability that any individual in the population will die from the disease; not just those who are infected, or are confirmed as being infected. It’s calculated by dividing the number of deaths from the disease by the total population. For instance, if there were 10 deaths in a population of 1,000, the crude mortality rate would be [10 / 1,000], or 1%, even if only 100 people had been diagnosed with the disease.
You are welcome for the information.
