If you chose a local college/university and easily commuted to it, there was no room & board charges, just book expenses. Books back then were not obscenely overpriced as now. Back then millions of NYS students graduated Debt-Free! Something greedy crooked Bankers hated and with the help of Republicans worked hard to screw students as we see today where students graduate saddled with massive college loans unheard of in the 60-70s.
