Is the word Negro derogatory....

Define "harassment"....
According to pistolero it is.

Pistolito is very heavy handed when it comes to slapping members with points. Whereas mojo might give you a warning or 2 points, pistolin goes straight to the bigdaddy 10 point smack down. He doesn't do warnings. All that is fine but I just want to see him be consistent. Originally Posted by coolaid

Fucking auto correct.

I remember some of the older members of my family used the word, and it's variations occasionally.

There were three common forms they used.

The one that ended in 'ger' which was always offensive.

The one that ended in 'gro' which was neutral.

The one that ended in 'gra' was for friends or folks they liked, used it respectfully (they saw it in their mind that way.)

Any of the three were used both in the singular and plural forms.

I like them, see the difference. However due to others different views on that word, I don't condone their use in any form or fashion these days.

As far as AA, we should not place anything ahead of being an American.

I rtm'ed both of these posts as they are both racially charged insults. Well, "trailer trash" might not be as blatantly racial, but calling someone a "big ugly turd" obviously referring to ld being a dark skinned black woman is clearly a racial insult.

Where are you at pistolero? You drew a hard line, now let's see if you're going to enforce it consistently across the board. Originally Posted by coolaid

I'm late seeing this thread.

In my opinion, "Negro" is not necessarily offensive . . . It's more so just out of style. In the 70s "Negro" was the common name for my group of people . . . that evolved into "Afro-Americans" . . . which is now "African Americans."

Negro: Not necessarily offensive, just out of use.
