Stevens loss gave Democrats their brief supermajority that greased the skids for the worst piece of legislation ever to excrete from the Senate...........drum roll................The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), destined to be enshrined in an equally odorous pantheon of infamous laws. Without that brief supermajority (later permanently disabled by Scott Brown's brief tenure as Massachusetts senator) we would have meaningful, constructive progress on health care reform with bipartisan compromise.
