Dow Jones up +232.02, S&P up +44.61, Nasdaq up +229.32.

If Biden can get us out of this Covid mess the economy will take back off and repair itself. Deep down, we all know that.
Then Trump can sit around tweeting all day how Joe inherited a great economy.
I realize the stock market is not the economy. Sure, there may be some changes in the tax code, but that will not stifle growth.
Hell, the offset of ending this useless trade war will counterbalance that. Originally Posted by TheWanderer

Also, Harris is an awful debater. What is she going to do? Call Pence racist for 90 minutes? Kinda forgetting the part about Biden calling non-Biden black supporters non-black, right? Or how about "Blacks aren't diverse, like Hispanics are"

Yeah, that's really going to fly well.

I agree, Harris made the most sense. I put too much stock in Rice's foreign policy experience (nobody cares), and ability to mobilize the black vote.. which she can, BUT Harris will draw needed white suburban women, the group that put Trump into office. Besides that Biden has foreign policy cred, he doesn't need Rice.

the Republicans will desperately attempt the "she's a Socialist" nonsense, which will fall flat, as it has with Biden. Hell, Biden could have chosen Strom Thurmond, "Socialist" would still be the playbook.

I predicted on this website, 17 months ago, that Harris would be the Presidential pick. Originally Posted by Chung Tran

Trump mowed down each of his Republican opponents last time, by adopting monikers and discrediting them. that playbook is old, people want to retreat from the nastiness of 2016 and beyond. Trump ironically called Harris "nasty" yesterday, even as he is the most nasty national politician in several generations. Originally Posted by Chung Tran

maybe from the more partisan groups, but generally speaking, the "mainstream" view of Biden is that he's.... kind of moderate.

indeed

AOC and her dumbass crew are basically cornering the democrats into more radical views than they really want using the race card.

yeah, but she got all of a minute at the upcoming convention. Biden is not buying what she's selling.

Biden's entire gameplan is "I'm not Trump who is a racist." Is that really going to be enough to win over independents? I doubt it.

I think it's more "I'm not Trump".. which is enough of a strategy to win back a good chunk of White Suburban women.

Have you seen Tulsi rip apart Kamala in the debates? Because it's glorious and Kamala had no rebuttal to her at all. How exactly is Trump a nasty politician? He fights dirty, but so do the Democrats?

I recall Tulsi getting in a couple of good dingers, but I don't remember what she said, or to who

I think Republicans are more worried about the covid situation. That could make or break Trump's president, imo.

they should be worried.. they weren't for so long, to their detriment

I mean, you can't really blame Trump for an economy that sank because of a "pandemic."

and I don't.. but I do think he mishandled the CO-VID situation.

he shut down China travel, then walked away. insisted there was no problem, ignored it.. ridiculed masks. and he lies about the economy now.. plays up the fact that "I created more jobs last month than anyone in history".. no you didn't.. more jobs that were lost came back after the shutdown eased. the Stock market is good, because of a 6.2 trillion dollar liquidity pump from the Fed Chairman he seems to hate, judging from past tweets. all-time lows on interest rates, almost free money, so naturally housing is doing well. Gold is on fire, because the economy is artificially pumped up. of course the same conditions arose after Bush sank the economy in 2008, and Obama "rescued" it. he didn't really, Bernanke did. yet these same Republicans savaged Obama for huge deficits, and would never admit Obama's economy took off. but they will take credit when it happens under Trump. in both situations the very rich got much richer after the economic fallout, it is the poorest people who took the big hit.

Biden just has to go on stage and he will sink his own dumbass campaign.

I disgree.. if he remains calm and doesn't let Trump rile him (like all of the Repblican candidates did in 2015), Biden should do fine.

if you were keeping tabs, Biden did better in each successive debate this political season

How? Like, you can hear him verbally fucking up in interviews. If it's a one-off thing, okay, fine. People sometimes do muck up words. But Biden is CONSTANTLY feeding himself his own foot.

And let's be real. If Trump made even a fraction of those types of mistakes, the media would air it till the end of time.

Trump's mistakes are not the same as Biden's, but they are worse because Trump speaks from the heart. that reel of the many times Trump dismissed the virus is damning. funny as Hell to watch, I think the Lincoln Project put that out.

Women voted from Trump after the immortal pussy grabbing tape. And yeah, Kamala is also a woman, but you're forgetting that she effectively slept her way to power. You don't think women will consider that when voting?

Also, why shouldn't Trump call people nasty when they're the ones flinging shit at him? You forget the Democrats wasted three years with a bogus Russian investigation, spent endless amount of time calling him racist, sexist and whatnot, twisted his original speech to make him sound worse, make him denounce people who he denounced a million times over, blamed covid on him despite Democrat ran states and cities doing a shitty job, and more, right?

If you want to call Trump nasty or whatever, that's fine. But don't act like he's the only one doing it.

There's also the Haiti thing, her insulting women who Bill Clinton (allegedly) raped, laughing at getting a pedophile off, blaming russia for her loss.

Also, you can't seriously compare Benghazi to a mere lie.

I do understand.. not very diplomatic. but when I see gun-toting Neanderthals protesting in Michigan, bitching about shut down rules, it's hard to feel much sympathy.

he's not the only one doing it.. I'm the first guy to say "the left" has been on an unrelenting campaign to dog Trump. Trump started the nastiness when he systematically mowed down (fucked over) every Republican who ran against him last time. the Republicans hated him briefly, before deciding they might as well put up with it, he is in power. Rubio and Cruz turned their personal hatred away, got on their knees, and give Trump daily blow jobs. pathetic losers those guys. at least Kasich has enough balls to still denounce Trump, and will speak at the Democrat Convention next week.

To be fair, I would also tot my gun at a rally if our state laws allowed me to. The lockdowns are shit. And in Michigan, they were especially bad. It's a bit dramatic, but shit, go for it!

I hate saying "it's politics" but it kinda sorta is politics, Chung. Democrats are much the same. Bernie got fucked by Hillary but he ended up endorsing her. He got screwed by Biden, he endorsed him. Kamala Harris called Biden a straight racist, she's his VP pick. It's politics. I actually think it was a good thing Trump mowed down/fucked over every Republican. Let's be real. Republicans are pussies. At least Trump knows how to fight back and get in the dirt.

As for Kasich, the guy is a moron. It's not about balls, it's that he's still butthurt. and that's fine. but let's not pretend he's fighting the good fight.

yeah, politics always rules the day. my disappointment with Trump is that I thought he was a real Outsider.. he has flashes of it, but only brief sparks.

the 2 game-changer fuck ups from my POV, is the complete abstinence of leadership on CO-VID, ridiculing the idea that it was a problem for many months.. and healthcare. "repeal and replace" Obamacare.. only the "repeal" part is important to Trump. he is like every Republican that came before him.. if you don't have affordable healthcare, Fuck you. every advanced nation but the US has a form of affordable healthcare. it's easy to say Obamacare sucks, and do nothing. don't tell me why affordable healthcare can't be done, show me how it can. every other Nation figured it out. don't tell me "oh, in Canada you have to wait 5 months for an operation".. that is an excuse to do nothing.

Oh, I agree that Trump wasn't quite as spectacular as when he shaved Vince Mcmahon's head at Wrestlemania, but I guess, realistically speaking, that was something we shouldn't have expected in the government.

On the issue of Obamacare, I mean... where were the Republicans? They were crying for 7 years about how bad it was and when it was time to deliver a bill, they had nothing. So that wasn't really on Trump, seeing as how his job is to basically just sign papers as POTUS.

Covid, well, it really depends. He could always just issue an executive fiat and force the states to do this and that, but that would be ignoring the 9th and 10th amendment, so his hands are kiiiind of tied? I dunno. Personally, I think he should have just forced states to sack up and stop being such pussies. The first two weeks, I can understand. Shit, even the first 4 weeks. But businesses are STILL being tied down by local orders and I think people are sick of it.

Leadership.. that's where Trump falls short. get people to do what they are not otherwise inclined to do.

get in and negotiate face-to-face on the stimulus bill.. stop letting Kudlow, Mnuchin et al, speak for you. Chuck and Nancy think he's afraid of them.

I agree. Trump should have used the bully pulpit to sort of push the issue more. But honestly I don’t know if it would have helped at all, seeing as how he’s the most hated president by an opposing party.

Let’s be real. If Trump went in there, would Pelosi and Schumer really agree to anything? They openly impeached him based on nothing so I don’t think they have much respect anymore at this point.
