Did anybody see Alan Dershowitz tonight? I watched about 20 minutes of him. After listening to that, I could see Joe Manchin and Doug Jones voting against Trump's removal from office. He gave them cover to do that. Basically he argued very convincingly that abuse of power and obstruction of justice aren't impeachable offenses, based on the Constitution and historical precedent.

To be fair, I didn't hear any of the other arguments, and do not like the system we've got in the USA where everyone is a criminal. The incarceration rate should be a lot lower IMHO.

The thing is....Jones is not getting reelected and I do not think Joe is up for reelection.

The Dems know Jones is gone but he might not!

The vote the Dems want is the one on more witnesses. They will beat Collins and the Senator from Colorado over the head with THAT vote.

As to Manchin, given the overwhelming support in West Virginia for Trump, I don't think the fact that he's not up for election this time around makes a difference. He'll probably vote in Trump's favor, regardless of whether he's offered any special favors.

Trump will most likely be acquitted in this trial....especially since he has a card he hasn't played yet. The insanity defense.

How the hell am I going to vote for 2 articles of impeachment that are un-constitutional to begin with and how can I be part of such a precedent of bringing such articles to the Senate floor.

Every single Republican running for the House can use Starr's and Dershowitz's arguments to show why no Democrat that voted to send over these articles can possibly be returned to the House after demonstrating they do not understand the Constitution, especially the obstruction of Congress who I am sure will get Democrats votes to dismiss because the arguments against a Congress having un-checked power over a Presidents Executive Privilege authority, must be dismissed.

Especially Schiff and Nadler who are on the record saying no such privilege exists and the SC has struck down this privilege in all matters the Congress brings up. For the Democrats to get what they want, a President could be called to testify before Congress on any matter they deem worthy and the SC has absolutely never said that. For this reason alone, these two, really all them should lose their seats.

Since October, according to RealClearPolitics, Trump's approval rating has gone from about -14% to a current -6.1%. That is significant. Unfortunately the polling does not break it down by state.

So why are Trump supporters complaining about the impeachment when it looks like it is having a rather positive impact on Trump's reelection campaign?
