I am curious to know what transpired that led to SUP being banned so that I too don't suffer the same consequences. This banning business is something I am having a great deal of trouble understanding. I see some people seek unprovoked verbal attacks on providers here, as I pointed out, seemingly without any moderation that is obvious on the board. It appears that some people can accuse past moderators of succumbing to sexual favors from a provider, which could cast doubts on the ethics of other moderators, particularly if one person, who constantly touts he provides "side benefits", acts as if he is "bullet-proof" in regards to his actions on this board. No sense in beating around the bush, Whispers does bring up a lot of topics that get under people's skin. He also brings up topics that are usually talked about in back channels, those things that members who are part of cliques get to know and take advantage of. He tends to make a lot of that information public knowledge. Is that good or bad? Depends on who you ask. Some of it hurts providers or other members, but is the truth and those who were not part of the right cliques benefit. Then, as I said, it might hurt providers' business or members' reputation.
As for being bullet-proof, Whispers has been banned. Once recently that I'm aware of. Compare that to me. I get into my share of "discussions" and even a few flames but have not accrued a point. I do understand the guidelines and even break them on occasion, but I also understand that most moderators will give leeway when an argument goes past a certain point, once the other side decides to cross certain lines, or between certain individuals who have had history. While you see Whispers having touted fringe benefits to others, including mods, I have no benefits to offer them aside from buying a round on the chance that I run into them. So the perception that you have of him being immune to punitive actions on the board are not true. It is more that he and a few others understand the guidelines here and can toe the line quite well.
I have been reading, and often enjoying, the postings on these boards for about a year, and IMHO Yssup is one of the funniest and fairest posters you have.I really think you have done a great job, overall. But please don't let one "Man Who Would Be King" and his henchmen turn it into a memory, like ASPD. I'm sure I have broken some rule, and await your response. While I obviously disagree with your opinion of Yassup, I can see your concern for the entertainment value of the board going down when a prolific poster you like to read gets banned. If you think Yssup is even marginally intelligent, you should believe that he understands the rules here and knew when he broke them. As my guess is that he was banned for accumulated points, it was not one thing he did that caused this ban, but a series of things that added up to it. None of it came suddenly, and he knew where he stood each day as he saw his points total increase and took his chances. Whispers and his "henchmen" have no power to make anyone here type anything they don't want to type.
