Actually "Lock downs" have a detrimental affect on the so called "Herd Immunity" It gives the virus more time to mutate.

Viruses are for the most part Parasitic, they need a host. The more widespread the virus becomes the less of a chance it will mutate into a more virulent strain. Over time it will burn itself out of the population and people will become less susceptible. If every year during the onset of the "Flu Season" if there were Mask Mandates and "Lock Downs" there would most likely be a similar out come as what is being seen with this Pandemic right now.

The flu caused fewer deaths last year than it does in most years, and people are speculating it's because of masking and lockdowns and the like. That's not to say I agree with lockdowns -- I don't.
Trying to persuade the public to wear masks and social distance, to buy time for development of vaccines, was a good idea.
