Florida Governor’s race steps into the gutter on day one.

A lot of people in Fla. are retirees and I would bet my last dollar those retirees aren't going to vote for the democRAT who will give their money away through taxes or any other thing.

Florida will be red, as will Texas and many other states. There will not be a blue wave except for your usual players, n.y., cal., etc.

I have heard that expression my whole life. Never used it but not because it was racially motivated, Never considered it to be a racial slur.

But knowing what we know about the electric political climate, DeSantis’s comment was stupid.

Your reactions indicate as much.

Never have heard it used that way, must be a regional thing....LOL
Regional...? Perhaps so....

(Growing up in Central Texas during the early / mid '60's) it wasn't too unusual for the grownups to refer to us (kids) as acting "rambunctious"...."unruly".... and even being scolded (if we were totally out of control as a group of young children can often be) to "stop monkeying around", straighten up, and act right.

Raised in the country (and being white) I grew up with a Blind Spot to idioms that (today) are now considered...mostly by the PC left..... as crossing the line (ie: racist). It just seemed like a manner of speech...a colloquialism in those days. Today its a whole different ball o' wax, isn't it?

Now I've got to make sure the next time I have friends over to the house (and yes, I do have a couple of black friends that drop by on occasion to watch a game on the weekends) that we're not serving something that could be considered racist.....

And what does it say about you if you have one of these in your tool kit?

The cable news channels have become day time soap operas. They need to stop monkeying around and report real news.

"Monkey wrench"

When a socialist has no "agenda," he creates an issue.

It's NOTHING. But when that's all one has .... "play it"!

Personally, I wasn't even aware the Democrats had a viable Black candidate for the Governorship in Florida. They still don't!

I suspect when the "dust" settles this may be one of those "basket of deplorables" moments in his candidacy. He's not only "monkeyed" up the election over there, he's made a "mountain out of a mole hill"!

He had an opportunity to make a statement that could show some class and a desire to engage the real issues in Florida over the next couple of months thereby reflecting his maturity and sincerity in leading Florida forward into the bright future Floridians have before them. Instead he chose the slop bucket of politics that has infested this country in the past couple of decades.

Did he actually trash-talk about Trump in Florida?
