Moving truck/pick up truck/trailer ISO

I wouldn't use any of them movers from Craiglist. We did it once 10 years ago, even asked if they were bonded and insured when we called different ones and we were told yes. They broke the leg off one of my mother's antique English cabinet and broke 3 drawers off a solid wood antique dresser and put a big deep scratch onto the side of the piano. They never paid for those damages, saying they weren't covered by their insurance ad weren't bonded - contrary to what they told us on the phone when we hired them. Also they said they had 3 hours minimum for a dollar amount and another dollar amount for each hour after that. So either way they are here for 3 hours right? Nope, they were rushing trying to just throw everything for a 4 bedroom home with 2 living areas into the truck with no organization and care at all and wanting to make it all one trip so they don't have to spend 3 hours and still make the same amount of $ - .
Yes, sir, I did....AND, lost my business computer (long before this biz) and all my family pics. Everything was backed up on an external hard drive LOL....also on the truck. But, guess what? I learned something.

Please tell me you didn't pre-pay? That would be a slap on the face after getting robbed...... Originally Posted by BLM69

The biggest scam in moving is to underestimate weight to show a low estimated price, when they get loaded the truck goes across the scales and "BAM" the final price goes up. Like Gomer Pyle used to say, "Surprise, surprise!"
Never hire a mover that doesn't take credit cards. You get some additional protection and can hold a mover responsible for what they steal or screw up.
