An old friend of mine marched with King in Alabama during which he was beaten by LE with gas pump hoses wrapped with barbed wire and left in a ditch along the road by the MARCHERS. He was picked up by Klansmen in a pickup and taken to a hospital were he recovered, but still had the scars on his back in later life.

He said it was a "confusing" day for him.
