Reps. Mike Rogers and Dutch Ruppersberger, the two top Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee, both stressed that "this important collection tool does not allow the government to eavesdrop" and that it is routinely reviewed by Congress.

This has come up for discussion and a vote several times since 9/11 so if your party is appalled at this it is BS on their part.

Apparently the noted Ultra Liberal Senator Saxby Chambliss feels it was a good decision.

As I have said FREQUENTLY, there is NO DIFFERENCE between the Democrats and Republicans when it comes to restricting Liberty. Both major parties want to see as little freedom as they can convince us is in our best interest - to "protect" us.
