How many people have been sent to jail for holding small amounts of marijuana even when they're sick or dying. Being sick doesn't absolve you of the crimes you commit. I have far more compassion for someone holding a bit of dope than someone who participated in the Jan 6 insurrection.

Did you duck when the point flew over your head? It has nothing to do with her age and/or physical condition. By my logic the punishment should fit the crime, in this case that’d be picking up cigarette butts in the park for 20 hours and ~maybe~ a small fine. She was incarcerated because of her political beliefs, nothing more. We watched months of crimes that were 1000x worse, but they were committed by left wing nutters, so the punishments were small to none.

Many in the country are now ok with with taking political prisoners. This is not a road we want to go down, regardless of which side is getting locked up.
