6th Street Bust

They picked up her boss. She's the little fish, that's why the FBI passed it off to APD. Look at her bail: $5k. The bail for a DUI is $5k.

She also owns the building. Her taxes are less than $5k/yr.

We live in a mad, mad, mad world. How the hell is busting a solid, tax paying business doing anyone a bit of good in this horrid economy? We had this discussion on another forum about underage prostitution. I read a serious study of underage prostitution back in the 80's that was done by professional sociologists. Every girl/boy in the study had been either sold or forced into the trade by their parents who were all drug abusers of some sort. Want to reduce underage prostitution to practically zero? End the fake 'War on Drugs'! Treatment is the solution not incarceration. Don't legalize 'prostitution', wipe the laws off the books. The adult industry has been self regulating for years. Gov't Regulation of the sex trade would be absolutely disastrous.

Most AMP are involved in human sex trafficking. That's why the girls are rotated out so frequently. I'm sure that's why the FBI was involved, if it really was.
Dale Dudley stated on the radio that there were numerous places busted. Anyone have any info?
"I'm shocked. Shocked to find that gambling is going on in here."
"Your winnings, Sir."

That does NOT add up.

Now, I own a falling down shitbox of a house here in Austin.

Now, I'll be honest - it's in a very hip and trendy neighborhood. I bought it for 5 figures years ago. Stuff in my 'hood now is going for half a mil to a cool million.

On my tiny little shitbox, my taxes are over $6k a year. The monthly tax bills are more than my actual mortgage payments ever were.

That all said - while it's in Central/South Austin, I'm not in Downtown(though I can see it from my front yard).

So...

How does a business in PRIME real estate in downtown Austin that does NOT get a homestead exemption get lower taxes than moi?

I'd really like to know - I may be missing some tax exemption that I really need to look into.

Thanks!

She's assessed very low. The math is correct, just over $4,000 based on the current tax rate. Pennies for what she was pulling in..Even if her taxes were 5X what they are she's still raking in enough cash to pay all her expenses, taxes and stash plenty between the walls of her home if she so chose.

A tax specialist might be able to reduce your taxes, worth looking in to when you get your assessment soon.

She walked out on a personal bond just hours after she was arrested, a shoplifter probably spends more time in jail. $50K bond and $5K bail, I don't think this case will go very far at all.

and she'll be back in business once the water cools down, the FBI as of now hasn't picked up the case and I don't see APD or the DA taking this to a far extreme...If the DA goes overboard or the Feds pick it up she is in trouble, if not, the doors will re-open.

might open up somewhere else in the short term and her sister, cousin, niece etc. might run the show, will be interesting to see. If the county assessor catches up with her the tax bill would go up, but she's getting a huge break now.

Let's see -- LE has looked the other way on this place since Willie Nelson had a crewcut.

KC is right. It'll be back in business before you can say "You wanna massagee?"

Seriously you are right about the rent there though. More then one bar/club has closed up shop and left 6th street over high rent through the years. I always wondered how MC made it. Maybe they did high enough volume, who knows. The more curious existence to me is the other Korean place(s) on the S side. Their property taxes have to be astronomical at their specific location and they do little business best I could ever tell. I bet they fold soon. End of an Era. Originally Posted by Billy_Saul

Like the Chinese buffet places that stay open forever with nobody ever eating there.
