Just use Black,unless you know for sure if a person has at least 1 parent who's an American Descendant of slaves(or slavery) or ADOS
Most Black immigrants will correct you if you call them AA
African American was originally intended to identify ADOS only,but through the years,every black person in America has been referred to as AA
Being born in America or holding American citizenship,doesn't make one AA
The "African" part comes from being a descendant of slavery,not because we can point on the map where our ancestors came from
An American with 2 Nigerian parents,is a Nigerian American no matter where he was born
In short,African-Americans=descendants of African slaves=not immigrants or children/grandchildren of immigrants
