There was an '80's flick called "Working Girls" (no, not the Melanie Griffith movie) that seems pretty realistic and funny to boot.
A day in the life of a NY brothel. It's a gritty, independent film made by a woman, Lizzie Borden, and as one critic put it, seems to substantiate the idea that "whoring is boring."
A bunch of hookers spend their working hours in a dreary apartment and in between seeing their pathetic clients, spend their time joking about their pathetic clients and trying to stay awake while waiting for their next pathetic client to show up. They also bitch about their pimp-madame and spend the rest of their time eating, smoking and doing their nails.
The clients are funny though and, sadly to say, probably pretty realistic.
Watched a documentary about 70 year old twin sisters in Amsterdam that had spent their lives as sex worker. Can't remember the name of it.
