Condoleeza Rice As VP Candidate
Word is that she really, really isn't interested and is letting her name be used so there is an African American under consideration. But I think she felt really burned and disillusioned from her time in government service and really wants nothing more to do with it. Plus, her views on abortion, affirmative action, gay marriage etc., have never been subject to much public scrutiny, and once they are, she may not be able to pass muster the the party hierarchy. She is on record as being "mildly pro-choice."
Also the unverified, but persistent rumors about Rice herself being a lesbian are just too much for the Republicans to take.
Romney really needs someone from the rust belt, or Florida. Marco Rubio appears to have taken his name out of contention, which I think is a good thing.
But unless Kansas becomes a battleground state, I'm still voting for Gary Johnson.
We could start by calling her Dr. Condalezza Rice. Fluent in five languages, expert in nuclear weapons and international law, concert pianist, and Russian culture specialist.
She would a surprising choice and I am sure that the democrats would attack her for being single and over 40 (she is not Oprah after all). Of course the normal game plan for democrats is to make the charge of infidelity (sex sells) and of being a racist (look at the cartoons of Oliphant). If she ran for president I would happily vote for her and VP she will get the Palin treatment. She would get the blame if Mitt lost.
They'll never pick her. And the Democrats would just concede that she's highly qualified and that the ticket should be Rice-Romney instead of vice-versa. One think you don't want in a running mate is somebody who makes the guy on the top of the ticket look like a lightweight.
TTH, I agree, her personal life has always been kept extremely secret, I have always suspected she was Gay, maybe not a practicing Gay, (if there was a girlfriend, someone would have found her by now), so regardless of her strong strong conservative credentials in certain areas, there is no way the extreme right wing of the Republican Party wouls allow her to be the VP Candidate.
I always thought she had a thing for GW Bush. That would explain a lot of things.
So what if she's gay? There are other reasons to not support her. The main one for the Republicans is she won't help the ticket carry any states, and this will be a close election. Republicans need to get over the idea that who you love is more important than that you love.
You gave a fair description of Candidate Obama 3 1/2 years ago.

She has way too much baggage as a W flunkey whether she is a flunkey or not.
She was a key member of a failed presidency. As I recall she was moved from National Security Adviser after Bush’s first term. I always saw that as an indication that she wasn’t bulldog enough for the post.
She was not well liked because she was hard to work with and her sense of entitlement.
I don’t think she can deliver, in mass, the female vote. She was connected to a fairly misogynistic and completely failed presidency.
I don’t think she can impact the Hispanic vote.
What state critical state(s) could she deliver? She’s a professional appointee so far. She’s never been elected so she’s not “from” any state. She was born in ‘Bama (had to look that one up). She can deliver all two of those electoral votes.
Personally, Marco Rubio would be my choice. He is all the things Rice is not, and he will deliver the Hispanic, even if other Hispanic groups aren’t necessarily fond of Cubans, vote and Florida.
I always thought she had a thing for GW Bush. That would explain a lot of things.

I could care less if she or anyone is gay. As long as they aren’t making it mandatory, carry on with what floats your boat.
The democrats have always had a template; the GOP candidate is stupid (see Ford, Reagan, Bush, Bush, Dole, or McCain), is distant from people (see Nixon, Ford, Bush, Dole, McCain), socially ackward (Nixon, Bush, Dole, McCain), racist or racist friendly (Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Bush, Dole), or less qualified than their VP (Reagan, Bush, Dole). Most Republicans have had higher college grades than their opponents, have similiar levels of education, or possess higher degrees than talked about.
I notice that it is the left leaning among us that have alleged that Rice is gay (though I thought that was no big deal) and claim that it is the GOP voter that would reject her for that. Could be her private life is private.
There is that little slip of the lip in an enterview though when she started to refer to George Bush as her hus... before saying the president.
Olivia, the word is "flunky" and don't believe the press when they say Bush was a failed presidency. Do you have evidence? He was elected twice, the US overcame 9/11, he rallied the nation, the business community was going good until the cyclical bust combined with some skullduggery brought the economy low (research the 10 year business cycle), and the US seriously brought down the tempo of world terrorism.
I know this is hard for some but try to stick with the topic; would Rice make a good VP?
She is attractive (cannot be overlooked in modern politics).
She is articulate (a favorite charge by democrats against republicans)
She is educated (you can't argue this point but they will try)
She is a black American (shouldn't make a difference but it still does)
She came from humble roots (unlike Gore, Kerry, Romney, Bush)
Her miiltary record is moot
She is an expert in her field with publications, speeches, and credentials
She is single (which adds some sex appeal)
She has dignity (you won't catch her dressed up like a muslim chief)
Her nomination would just kill the democrat "you're a racist" operations
Olivia, the word is "flunky"

I didn’t say she was stupid; I said she was a flunky. There’s a difference. What did she DO for the W presidency? She failed as the National Security Advisor because she was demoted to SoS. Tell us, really, what were her high points as Secretary of State? She seemed to have a “personal” relationship with W. Other than Rove, W didn’t hire real thinkers. He hired Yes men and women.

He is as failed as a person as he is a president.
He didn’t deal a “blow” to terrorism. He created more of it by killing over a million Iraqis. Obama got Bin Ladin, his second and third in command. It’s Obama’s drone strikes that have driven al Quaita underground to the point they can’t find middle and upper management.
We overcame 9/11? They bombed two buildings and the Pentagon and crashed a third plane. Is that you think of your country? That a bunch of vagabonds can knock two buildings down and bring the United States of America to its knees. You are a great thinker indeed sir.

She is articulate and well educated, but we’ve seen time and time again (Obama) that that doesn’t mean she has good ideas, ideology or can get anything don’t.
She will not deliver the black vote. Obama has that sown up.
She will not deliver female votes.
She came from humble beginnings but she is full blown “entitled”. It turns people off especially and female vote she is expected to bring.
She’s an expert at publications, speeches and credentials? What? She wasn’t a very good National Security Advisor or SoS.
She is single which will breed speculation she is gay or hiding something or both.
She doesn’t dress up like a Muslim chief? What? Oh, ok whatever the fuck that means. She is full of angry black woman though. I believe this is the quote: In an upcoming biography, Condoleezza Rice is revealed to have dressed down a jewelry store clerk for making minimum wage. "Let's get one thing straight," said Rice. "You are behind the counter because you have to work for minimum wage. I'm on this side asking to see the good jewelry because I make considerably more."
Condi has too many Bush secrets in her closet of many skeletons ... she has no design on being a public image ... as mentioned, she's smart.
Let me apologize for beating you up Olivia but
I am not religious in any form. You can apologize now.
I never said that Condi would deliver the black vote. That is your interpretation from a liberal prospective that black people have to vote for the black candidate.
I never said that you said she was stupid. I said that the democratic template is to say that the GOP candidate is stupid. Witness George Bush and Sarah Palin which you have confirmed with your own words. Both were elected to high office, Bush has a Master's Degree from Wharton, Palin ran a state bigger than many countries, Palin has the same degree as most TV journalists.
Being moved up to Secretary of State is not a demotion. Where in the world did you hear that fib?
Bush a raving idiot??? See above and give examples that are based on more than media opinion.
I didn't hear we lost the war in Iraq. In fact Obama was taking credit for winning that war or maybe you didn't hear. The war in Afghanistan? We've lost more people there since Obama took over so I guess that makes it his war now. Along with Yemen, Libya, and Pakistan.
Vagabonds??? That is almost funny, sad but funny. It was a well thought out plan by Bin Laden and his evil cohorts. The tower is being rebuilt and the Pentagon has been repaired. The economy recovered (which was the goal of the attack). Bin Laden is dead because of all the things that Bush put into place. Tell me truthfully, given what we know about Obama would he have put this intelligence machine together to fight what he doesn't believe exists. Obama started on 3rd base and got home on a walk. He (and you) thinks he got a homerun.
I never said that she would deliver the women's vote, you did. We conservatives see everyone as Americans and not as women, black, Jewish, etc. Someday you too will evolve and join us. One of us, One of us, One of us... does that scare you?
Apparently you have a problem if she were gay. Shame on you.
The purpose of the NSA is not to make headlines. I bet you didn't know that. She negoiated with the Arab countries while we fought. She got agreements from all of them to let them use their air spaces. We got agreements with Azerbaijan and Georgia. Did you hear about those?
You need to read more than the daily paper and Jon Stewart. Try Stratfor.com
I should throw you a life preserver because you are in over your head.

The number of square miles that makes up a state is a very poor measure for how difficult the job is. Admit it, Palin was a very light-weight poaster girl for the conservatives, nothing more. I do not think Rice would be a good P or VP--but if the choice was Rice vs Palin, Rice is head and shoulders better.
As to her "agreements" with other Asian states, do not overstate the "negotiation" part. Yes, she got the agreements, but in some cases it was far more the Don Corleon school of negotiating than the Henry Clay school.
Gary Johnson is very popular in New Mexico. He vetoed over 750 bills sent to him by the legislature. And think we would be in much better shape if our lawmakers never showed up. I would seriously consider voting for a candidate who promised to never show up and vote for anything.

She doesn't want it and she doesn't have sufficiently conservative credentials to satisfy the repuke loonie base. Mitt needs a nut, not a thoughtful smart lady like Ms. Rice. Those people no longer have place in the GOP. Only crazies allowed.
