Texas Tushie, that was Nixon's people and not the RNC. Do you remember the GOP surrounding Nixon like they did Clinton, Studds, Frank, and Obama to offer protection? They didn't. In fact it was the GOP House leadership that went to the White House and said is was time to go. Nixon had no Debbie Wasserman Schultz or Barnie Frank trying to convince the American people that all was well. Nixon fought his battle alone.
Nixon wasn't a republican??? Shocking...

Back to the OP. The reason the campaign is and will be so negative is that there are very few differences in the substance of policies between the candidates. They can't argue policy differences, so they have to lie and call names.
Only diff I have found in the parties the Dems want to help everyone the Repubs want to help their own.
COG; you are dead wrong.........there are big differences between what Romney stands for and Obama...........don't let your political dogma get in the way of rational thought.

The Klan, Jim Crow, and chain gangs were all inventions of the southern democrats. Yes, we all see you're saying that the GOP is into dirty tricks but you named one yet? That answer is no. Originally Posted by JD Barleycorn

I think most Democrat politicians believe big government and in the social welfare state; they would advance their agenda even more quickly, if they thought they could still win elections.

Politics is the art of the possible. If it was politcally possible, I believe that Romney and Ryan would make substantial changes that would save the country from finanical disaster. On the other hand, if it was politically possible, I believe that Obama would turn America into a complete social welfare state and take our freedom.

The fate of the country, ultimately, is in the hands of the American people. We can choose to embrace socialism or we can choose to return to the Constitution and limited government. The choice is ours.

Politicians can't save the country or destroy it without our permission.

Gridlock is good. It means they aren't screwing things up. I am all for gridlock.
then you have been happy for the last two years....

The anxiety is over which way the gridlock will break. I hope it stays intact.

And hey, I'm a happy guy. I'm not about to let the government take away my enjoyment of life. I will rant and rave, but I take time to play. It's a good life. And I have the greatest grandchildren of all time.

Don't confuse my rants with any underlying depression or anything like that. When the facade falls and the police state is shown for what it is, we still need a reason to go on. We still need to be happy in our families and community. Otherwise, they win. I'm not letting them win.
