burner phone suggestions?

I tried , but got nervous when paying cash and the cashier gave me a wierdlook

Just get a google voice number. Its free, you can call and text and you don't need another phone which someone can find. WHen I am hobbying I add the app, when I am done, I delete the app. So simple been using it for years,.

When you activate the number by calling with another phone I can not help but wonder if that other phone number is recorded so that someone can track who has the burner phone.

I use a text app, textnow, and keep it and all my shortcuts and hobby email in a hidden secured folder. Can turn call access on and off as needed and don't get notifications but could turn that on too.
Couldn't explain having an extra phone very easy...
