I pay my doctors before the appointment about half the time. And there’s this thing called a retainer with some legal cases. Basically it’s up to the service provider to decide when to collect and up to the customer to say yes or no.Never paid a doctor in advance. Did not say any thing about an attorney? Much different when you have to have their services.
Mechanics won’t release your car before you pay and if you don’t, they can put a mechanics’ lien on it. Same with contractors, who usually charge part up front.

Never paid a contractor up front but I buy the material and just pay for labor. Contractors charge up front if they have to buy the supplies so they do not go in the hole on the job.
When you have good credit and pay your bills people I do business know they are going to get paid.
I do not get your point, comparing apples to oranges.
