IF you do not follow TigerCat's advice and do decide to pursue the hobby, a few more inputs: (1) get a HOBBY phone - make it a DUMB phone, simple, cheap, throwaway model. SMART phones cost too much, plus being suspicious, the SMART phones may collect information about you. Get a DUMB phone with no frills as you will only use it for the hobby. Go to Walmart or Target, etc and pay CASH for a throwaway phone - TracPhones are good; pay for minutes, again, pay for cash. Replace every year or two. Since you do not have a wife/girlfriend, it does not matter, but store the phone in a location where only you have access. (2) do NOT use your work e-mail to check sites, e-mail - most companies have policies that allow them to monitor e-mail/website visited (3) in the same manner as getting a hobby phone, get a HOBBY e-mail account that you only use for the hobby (4) others have already stated it, but the cardinal rules in the hobby, 1. research, 2. research, 3. research - P411, this site, TER - great resources to research.
