Gotta keep your peanut butter out of he chocolate. Separate google and iCloud accounts are as important as separate bank accounts.
Caution, know how to use the technology before you use it.
Good advice. But there is a lot more to many technologies than most realize when they use it. A person could make some decent money just offereing classes on how to use smart phones and all the different angles on the most popular apps.

My real phone does that shit. "It will take you ___ minutes to get to ___." Be knowing what days I go where and shit.

Since I'm single, this doesn't overly concern me, but if I were one of you jokers, with wives and all...
I use an app called waze. its easy to delete the history and if needed can delete the whole app. I'm weary about using google maps or apple maps

motrctyman,
so what is recording your movements in Google Maps - your location services/gps on your phone or on your computer or both??
if not those, then what??

I keep location tracking turned off even though I don't have an SO. Call me paranoid but I don't want my wanderings tracked. Originally Posted by oldmarine

plus, turning off location services/gps reduces battery consumption since your phone doesnt have to ping gps satellites all the time.

is there something else i'm missing that would be tracking me via my phone or laptop??
Many apps record your location (contacts, Google, browser, camera, messaging, maps, etc). You can look at permissions in the app manager or settings and it will show what is allowed.
Mapquest is your friend. If you are mobile and using secret mode the hit cancel when it wants to load maps and it should use the browser. Dont search or use maps when you arelogged in via a computer browser.

Take a hammer to the technology and be a grey man. People lived w/o it just fine over 10 years ago. Nothing you do on your settings will affect the data collection, it only affects your access to the data being collected. You gave up your privacy when you used the technology. Piggyback on wifi and use counter intel software programs, vpn's, etc. if you must get online. Smartphones, smart cars, etc. = you're fucked if ur SO or other has any tech skills, so don't even have them on you when visiting your sugar baby or strip club.

On android, even without using google maps, it will track your movements. Even if you dont run the app. You have to go into map settings and disable history.

Do this in facebook too! As others mentioned, tolltag also timestamps your tolls, so you should have a plausible explanation.
