Is there money to be made in pimping?

I was not going to get into this thread until the exchange between tbone and cb. There are a number of dirty little secrets in our hobby/business. One is that there are a vast number of levels of ladies in the biz, from sw'ers, bp'ers, spa girls, escorts, and hdh's. The secret is that not all ladies are cut out to run a business. Just as in the real world, some people are chiefs, and some are indians. If you, Mr. Tbone, own a business, we could certainly call you a pimp, because you are earning money off the slavery of others. If you work for someone, do you think what you earn is unfair compared to what the owner of the business earns?? Without knowing your business, but knowing my business, and business in general. I had numerous ladies come from the indy side, and had a number leave to be an indy. The ladies would 90% of the time come back or work for another spa. In conversations, it was always, "I didn't know how much rent was", "I didn't know how much electricity was", "I've got bad credit and couldn't rent an apartment", etc. My advertising budger was 2k a month, Hugo the web guy, coffee daily for the girls (my priority), and all of the expenses of running a business where too much for some. I could also give the ladies cover with husbands and boyfriends, or they could have a separate job without any one knowing. Just the way it is, just like mister Tbone-head. Sorry, I couldn't resist the cheap shot, in your business. It would be great if each employee in a company could go out and open their own biz, wealth would be gained. If the unemployed would go out and open their own little business, wealth would be gained. But, not everyone is not in that position, whether by finances, education, drive, or other factors. Was I a "pimp"? I don't even kid about that with friends. Was I a "manager"? No, I was a BUSINESS OWNER. A good one, too good maybe. Mr. Coefficient, pay attention to Dear John and Lisa.Lisa's warning. It is a business if you want to be successful. It is not Hugh Hefner's playhouse. It is not a swing club, it is a job. I don't think it is for you, but you can make that decision for yourself. The PRO is that it is a very interesting business. The CON is that one day you may become one.

Hell CB....a lot of us here can be regarded as sometime pimps. We pass around girls to out friends and do some promoting. Remember that time I was at the eye doctor all day and you offered to bring that one girl down to blow me? because I was bored?
I've also done the same with you
Bannana.....the word "Pimp" to me applies to anyone or everyone that sells or promotes the selling of pussy.

I DO own a business but I don't sell pussy. If it floats your boat to think of me as a pimp then by all means say so. What you say doesn't really mean much to me and I am sure what I say doesn't mean much to you. In some aspects...as I mentioned in my last post, I consider myself a part time pimp. Don't get your feathers in a knot.
I'm not saying I'm any better than anyone else here.

We can all theorize about what managing an escort business is like, but BananaRepublican has actually done it, and did it as well as has ever been done in Houston.
I'm sure he did a great Job Blowpop and I agree with you. I would never want that job and would probably be lousy at it. He just doesn't like being referred to as a pimp. I've already admitted I was one.

In the context " The net result is the same", it's like saying a Chevy Cobalt runs the same high 12 second quarter mile like the Camaro SS does because they are both cars. It's like saying sky blue is the same as navy blue because they are categorized as being blue.

I just feel your definition of being a pimp is way too narrow minded. When I think of 'pimp' I think of the scene in Magnum Force where the pimp (played by Albert Popwell) shows up at a hotel and gets one of his girls in the back of a cab. He finds out she has been holding out money and ends up slapping her around and pours Drano down her throat. My definition of pimp is the worst of mankind, but that is how I see being a pimp is.

Also, if you rent one of the ladies, aren't you therefore supporting their pimps? If you write a great review of a lady and your review gets her business, aren't you therefore promoting her business, therefore 'pimping' her to the members here? In this context, we are all pimps.
I am going to have to disagree about the pimp versus manager debate.

Most pimps take everything a gal makes and provides very little support for the business side of things. They give the gal a nice place to live, a car to drive, etc.., but the gal owns NONE of it. If they wanna walk they will be doing it literally and in fear of violence.

Managers or agency owners generally maintain incalls, do the screening, booking, advertising, and marketing for the gals and only take a cut. (Usually between 30 and 50%). But they do work for it and they pay the expenses. Agency owners are often not in the black until a gal has worked a few weeks becasue of expenses incurred. Photos, ads, clothes, supplies, freebies for reviews, etc..

Both have to continually recruit new girls and watch their ass from getting ripped off from the girls and the hobbyists.

Whether you like or dislike pimps or managers, it does not matter. They are not going away. I do find it odd how people from the board will trust a female agency owner over a male agency owner. It has been my observation that the male agency owners tend to treat the girls that contract them for their services better and are less spiteful.

Note: With an agency, the girls get to keep their share of the money and whatever they purchase is theirs. The girl contracts the agency to take care of the TCB stuff and are free to quit anytime they like. (Yes, their are dirt bag agency owners who will play dirty just like any business. More so in illegal businesses.)

Speaking of illegal.. uh hmmmm.

In Texas, running an agency in the sense we are talking about is a class B felony. each count carrying a maximum penalty of 2.5 years in prison and a $2500 fine. They call it pimping and pandering. and that is just the start....

Did you you any vehicles for the business? Gone.
Did you use your house for any sessions? Gone.
Got any cash in any accounts or stashed in a house or safe deposit box? Gone.

Then IRS likes to come in and claim you made way more than you did and levy tax fraud charges and the like...

I wont even talk about the drama factor and the risk some gals can put you in. BR knows.

Point is: There is a lot of risk.

Is there money to be made? Yes.

What you have to figure out is how much will you probably make and what segment of the market you are going to cater to. Figure out and implement your business model.
Figure out your marketing plan. Figure out your expenses. How much will you net?

Is that amount worth prison time and a felony conviction?

Free pussy for you? Quickest way to lose girls and create drama.
Free pussy for key players out there? Some. You are buying too because the gal ain't doing it for free.

Did I mention the paranoia? The agency wars that break out every 5 to 10 years?
The friends you will lose? That it is not a 9 to 5 business? You will put in more hours than ever because you will be tethered to your phone and email.

Of course, this would all be things I have observed from others in the game. I will stick to misdemeanors, thank you.

Go for it!

Maybe quick money early on, then nothing but trouble, and big trouble. Additionally how many Clients would visit a Provider knowing a Pimp is involved?

Show me a camaro that does 12 second quarter miles off the showroom. It's got to be modified. I just bought a new SS a couple of months ago. I know it won't do a 12 second quarter.

For the record...I look at most things as black or white, not much gray. If you're running girls....you're a pimp. You can call it managing or sugar-coat it anyway you want and change the name to anything you want. I really don't care. I NEVER said it was a bad thing or a good thing. It's just the way I see it and it only matters to me and know one else. This discussion has already run it's course in another thread so this is the last time I will comment on it.

From a Womans perspective:

Banana Republic has jumped through hoops for me. I know he would not mistreat or treat any woman, regardless of her profession, with anything less than respect and with genuine concern for her well being. Guys, there in lies the simple difference between a pimp and a manager. Anyone who is inclined to get into the biz, as Billy did, should do so by his example.
