Migrants are not being flown into the U.S. randomly. Under a Biden policy in effect since January 2023, up to 30,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela can enter the country monthly if they apply online with a financial sponsor and arrive at a specified airport, paying their own way. Biden exercised his “parole” authority, which, under a 1952 law, allows him to admit people “only on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”

But people admitted into the country under parole have no path to citizenship. They can obtain work permits for a limited time but voters must be U.S. citizens.

Biden has exercised parole authority far more than any of his predecessors, which Trump calls “an outrageous abuse” that he will end if returned to the White House. Biden has granted entry — by land or air — to at least 1 million people using parole, not just the 327,000 who flew from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua or Venezuela though December.

Angelo Fernández Hernández, a White House spokesperson, said Wednesday that reports of secretly flying people into the country were “categorically false” and that Cubans, Haitian, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans were “thoroughly screened.”

These workers will need to be replaced. We can and should fill the unskilled jobs with new immigrants which will allow US born workers the opportunity to move into better jobs. Young immigrants will be able to fill those positions vacant not now but in the next few decades as more and more people age out of the workforce.

This transition is going to take place eventually. Again it’s to our benefit if we fix the immigration system now with a plan for the future rather than litigating the past. What we don’t want is a sub-class of people who are marginalized and not able to access the schooling and resources necessary to fill the jobs we need them for.

Well, TEXDOT-GUY is right in a way . . .immigration has always been the future of the USA.

One side of my family came here from Italy the decade or so before WW-I. My father's side of the family (just him alone) came here in the last years before WW-II. My Wife's father came from Venezuela in the 1920s when his father had business in the USA. My wife's maternal side came here in the 1600s when New York belonged to the Dutch. . . .they were the only folks to not go through the screening at Ellis Island. These folk all arrived in an above board fashion with full knowledge of he is controlling authorities.

WE do, as a Nation, need to have regular infusions of immigrants. But what we have today is an unregulated, uncontrolled and untracked influx of foreign nationals by the millions. Many of these people are considered undesirable in their homelands. Many of these people have exotic illnesses endemic to their home countries, but essentially unknown or rasr here. Some have skills and education that could contribute to our society, but the great majority do not. A significant proportion were career criminals at home and continue to prey on society here in the US. It is a sure thing tht among the unknown, untraceable millions who have entered the country since 2020, there are organized sleeper cells of terrorists or special operations folks waiting orders from their various controllers at home. That's true but there was a system in place. My ancestors came over from Italy as well and landed on Ellis Island where the Immigration screening process would begin. They would get a meal, a shower, medical exam ect. Some immigrants were turned away for various reasons. At that time in history America had a need to build it's labor force and the overall economy by accepting immigrants from Europe. Now there is no system there is no rhyme or reason. The present system is dysfunctional and will only congest the country with individuals that have no business being here.

There are plenty of "newcomers" here already. So we will have suffucient time to work through how to revamp and imorove our overall systm of regulating immigration.

In the meantime, while the immigration system is being re-worked, we can begin to deal with those who are already here . . .just as they would have been at the Ellis Island in the past.

Their tavel documents will be reviewed. Anyone who has broken the law will be returned to their homeland. Those who have a valid passport and visa will be allowed to stay.. . . .just s it wass for our family members.

This does not need to be a hysterical mass roundup. We can work through the current millions as they come to the attention of the authorities. The first ones will be those who were habitual criminals in their home countries of course, as they continue to be criminals.

Others will com to light as they look for work or apply for social services and cannot prove they have legal status such as a work visa.

Eventually most will be returned to their place of origine where they can apply for the proper paperwork at an embssy or councilor office. . . .just as our ancestors did.

I think so too but Immigration has become a political thing and it is an injustice to the immigrants and to the American citizens. It just goes to show to show how dysfunctional America has become.

America no longer needs thousands (millions?) of unskilled, uneducated workers from Ireland to dig the Erie Canal by hand. Nor do we need thousands coolies from China, (again, no insult intended) to lay tracks for the Trans Continental Railroad.

What we do need is a streamlined system for screening, in their home country, and qualifying educated, skilled men and women from anywhere in the world who can fill jobs already identified by employers here in the US.

We do not need folks who have already broken the law before encoung any US official here in the USA.
