The Good Part Of FOSTA

In your dreams, lol.

SESTA/FOSTA is going to cause a lot of providers to abandon sex work altogether. What you are going to see instead is an increase in rates. Ad prices are going to jump and our risk factor is going to skyrocket. Right now I rely on free advertising but if I have to start paying exorbitant rates on P411, Eros, etc then my rates are going to increase and I know for a fact I am not the only one that will go that route.

This post was funny though in that you think taking advantage of already disenfranchised women is a good thing. You tried, and all that happened was you joining multiple blacklists. Have a good day! Originally Posted by Luxie

I haven't heard of ladies lowering rates because of this. If anything, I know many ladies have been switching their websites to offshore hosting, switching to encrypted E-mail services and other things.

All we have to do is adapt. I know it's stressful and scary for many but we will get through this mess.

Lol I don't see the majority of ladies rates dropping .... imo they'll probably stay where they are or go up a little even.
Hell a lot of sites that haven't bit the dust yet might start upping their costs to advertise.

It will cause $'s to drop since providers will have no where to post? Since some of the rates have jump way to much for avg services from avg looking providers. Originally Posted by KTALGSTO

Unfortunately, because of FOSTA/SESTA the dependent sex workers will have no support from ladies like us that will tell you to go suck your own dick.

Ladies, if you have the ability, we need to fight for all sex workers. Those who don't have the luxury we have clawed for.
I just got a stable of good providers in my area and my company is transferring me to a place where escort service sucks... FUCK!

Supply/Demand model. I would think many ladies would quit or go deep UTR as others have stated above. This means the available of easy 'to spot' providers will be more difficult, and I would expect prices to increase. The best thing is as long as men have penis' and women have vaginas, these two forces will always find a way to join.

Nothing about this bill will help "stop trafficking of minors"...

Spot on.

Too many politicians have grown up in a sound byte era. They get a slogan, pound the podium, get it passed, but never took the time to think it through and word it carefully.

That used to be one of the jobs of the staffers--to look for and try to write out the unintended consequences. But too many politicians have replaced experienced staffers with political minions and yes-men who don't want to find UCs, and are to idealistic to believe them when they are pointed out to them. But the lobbyists are loving it.

Probably the only good thing is providers and clients will treat each other with more respect because of fewer options. Not sure where ladies think they are going to advertise online the premium services are going away too. Figure the high end providers will become more expensive and many low & mid level people will be on the streets out of desperate need for money to pay bills.
I think this is going to blindside a lot of people. Many of the younger ones will have no idea how to navigate the more dangerous world of the streets and dive bars. People are going to be hurt and killed because of this law.

Thank god I've been working on a way out since last summer. At this rate, I'll be able to not only make ends meet, but crash into one another and explode in extra income.

Good luck, everyone else.

This isn't a career for me and never has been
Bad read of the market for several reasons. Supply will be constrained because screening is going to be more difficult for these ladies and some will drop out of the biz. Plus there will be no place to signal market prices like there is now with sites such as eccie. With less market communication and higher risk, those are upward pressures on prices. There will be a premium on monger’s good behavior. “Better be a good boy, or I’m just going to burn your number, baby.”

A few thoughts on FOSTA:
Legalizing prostitution would have the affect of being able to better regulate it and protect against trafficking. FOSTA will have the opposite affect. Girls will have to be more reliant on pimps and traffickers for protection not less.
As for prices, it may initially drop them for some girls but long term they will go up. Eventually the market will thin out and girls will be forced to either use high cost web sites (and expect their prices to go up as liability goes up) or work for agencies who can basically monopolize the market.
While I'm all for grandfathering and understand the advantages, one of my favorite parts of the hobby is variety. Like anyone else I've got my favorites, but I also like to spread the love.
The other thing that scares me about FOSTA is that if the web sites can be prosecuted there will also be a lot more impetus for them to turn over information on their clients and members. So writing a review on a girl who turned out to be underage, even though she showed you a ID, could be enough to get you into trouble; even if you don't get convicted you can still be investigated and prosecuted.
