Saddens me that the teacher who was one of the first victims, only had his empty hands to try to protect those kids. Imagine, if he had been allowed to carry a firearm? His protective response would have been much more effective.

I have a couple of relatives who are public school teachers. I have no doubt (with the proper training, certification, etc) they would not hesitate for a second to protect each & every student in their classroom(s) should a situation arise akin to yesterday's.
Dicey situation having several dozen teachers, all armed, running around on a school's campus with one (or more) shooter(s) on location. During a chaotic situation as such...the possibilities are endless...many of them ending badly, of course.
Perhaps an all-armed faculty would serve as a deterrence for would be assailants...we don't know. But this much we should know; if nothing is done, nothing will happen. And madness such as the tragedy in Florida will simply continue to take place.
