Why? Because that's 400 million dollars that didn't make it into the Clinton Foundation coffers? Originally Posted by gnadfly

You have26,000 posts. You'd think you would say something clever just once.... even if it was an accident. I'm sure that if you stay at it long enough it might happen. Originally Posted by TheDaliLama

This is a scandal of epic proportions! Why are the MSM ignoring this? It's an outrage! The media is state controlled, and you trust them to give you truth about the election? Originally Posted by CuteOldGuy

"Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus claimed President Obama “secretly gave the Iranians $400M at the same time 4 Americans were released from their custody” and linked to a Wall Street Journal story that has the right up in arms this fine Wednesday morning. This, of course, is false."

"The money was the first installment of a $1.7 billion settlement the administration reached with Iran to resolve a 37-year-old dispute over a failed arms deal signed just before the fall of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in 1979. The legal wrangling was being arbitrated before the international tribunal in The Hague.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Wednesday that the payment was not ransom for the release of the prisoners, and that the claims were an example of the lengths to which opponents of the Iran deal will go to discredit it."

Congress still hasn't agreed to lift sanctions on Iran. They won't either. Not after this.

What the Obama administration did, experts agree, was illegal and should be prosecuted. The next DOJ probably will.

It's called money laundering. Like what the Clinton Crime Family Foundation does.

Remember the Iranian Hostage episode. All of the grief they caused.

I figure that grief comes to, let's see, 1.7 Billion.
Delivered to the Iranians? In CASH?

Where do you suppose that money will go too? Originally Posted by TheDaliLama

Some of that money was supposed to serve as recompense to the families who lost loved ones in Beirut in 1983.

U.S. top court rules Iran bank must pay 1983 bomb victims

Wed Apr 20, 2016 6:10pm EDT

The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that almost $2 billion in frozen Iranian assets must be turned over to American families of people killed in the 1983 bombing of a U.S. Marine Corps barracks in Beirut and other attacks blamed on Iran.

The court's 6-2 ruling dealt a setback to Iran's central bank, finding that the U.S. Congress did not usurp the authority of American courts by passing a 2012 law stating that the frozen funds should go toward satisfying a $2.65 billion judgment won by the families against Iran in U.S. federal court in 2007.

The origin of this money is clear. Iran paid for 4 warships which weren't delivered because of the Shaw's fall. The 4 Kidd Class or "Dead Admiral Class" DDGs were kept and used by our navy. They have since been sold to Taiwan.

And no, they keep as good records as the Koch do.

And while we can all agree that while being illegal and an impeachable offense, Reagan's arms for hostage deal was more "arms laundering" than money laundering funding for the contra's was money laundering.
While all investigations pointed to Reagan, his administration refused to release classified documents. Classified because the dealt with Reagan putting us on our knees without even telling the American public.

No this was money laundering despite the legal expertise of Munchkin. Sometimes money laundering does hide the source of the money but sometimes money laundering just make the money "clean". It is illegal to do business with Iran with US dollars so you have to get rid of those dollars and money is fungible. The earlier money we sent to the Iranians can be tracked through the Internet (so why didn't we do that this time?) but this cash can be divided into neat bundles literally and given to terrorists for operations in England, France, Germany, Israel, Belgium, and the US. It probably was. So now, Obama is sponsoring terrorism against our allies. Again, why an unmarked plane? Reagan released obsolete parts to the Iranians in exchange for money and hostages. The money went to the Contras (since the unconstitutional Boland bill would not allow Reagan to do foreign policy) and we got hostages back. Reagan admitted as much. This time Obama went further, we didn't give Iran obsolete weapons, we gave them money to be used for buying new weapons and paying for operations in Europe. It was against the law and Congress had no chance to approve or disapprove (ala the Boland Bill).

So if this was so up and up, why the secrecy? I watched Josh Ernest the other day. He must have said the word "ransom" 12 times in two minutes as he denied that it was ransom. Shakespeare had him pegged.
