This will be treated like other special elections. A big deal if the Trump-backed candidate loses, no big deal if that candidate wins. Special elections, just like the early polls are in no way a predictor come the General Election.Prior to the 2018 midterms Republicans lost a number of high profile special elections. They could be interpreted as a sign of what was to come.
They are elections(like the polls) at a point in time.
Lots of emphasis is placed on them from a media standpoint, but they have never been a good measure where the General Election will go.
As was pointed out, Obama lost in spectacular fashion during his first midterms and many of the special elections in his first term, but won in 2012. Originally Posted by eccielover

Mark Harris, Republican, defeated Don McCready, Democrat, 139,246 to 138,341. Allegations of fraud in the election prevented certification and the NC Board of Elections called for a new vote.
Trump is obviously worried and finds it extremely meaningful that a Republican take the seat. Originally Posted by Chung Tran

If this guy wins, will it mean “nothing to trump?” Maybe if he loses - Trump hates losers. But your comment is naive and comical. Originally Posted by Yssup Rider

Even you should be able to see the RAMifications of it.
Maybe not.

Much money has been poured into this race by both sides. Everyone who says it won't be a huge upset if McCready wins is correct but from the emphasis put on the race by Trump is must mean a great deal to him. Originally Posted by SpeedRacerXXX
