A lot of these thefts go unreported because guys appear stupid enough allowing it to happen. Why post about it and remove all doubt...

IMO, that is why you NEVER lend money/buy something in lieu of future services to a provider or even prepay for a session as you arrive before services are rendered. Most of the time, it comes back to bite you and there is very little if anything you can do about it.

There are some guys that take advantage of the opposite situation as well (short the provider or leave an empty envelope), but those guys are rarer than the providers who pull the fast ones on the hobbyists. And just as it was said previous, guys tend to not report such instances as other dudes would laugh at them or the like. Providers who get burned tend to always report bad clients, especially the ones that do not pay.

It is mainly all about research. While it is true that no matter how thorough you are, there are no guarantees in this business, you never are going really know what will happen, but exhausting all avenues and doing your due diligence is your best prevention.

I'm personally concerned about a growing trend by some providers to accept donations up front for particular needs (they say) then never repay as promised either for bartered goods and/or services or cash. I know I'm not the first but maybe if these providers are outed in some way, perhaps in the men's lounge, the word would quickly spread. I'd like to hear from the community their take. I know it's an unseemly practice and one none of us should consider. But, if you have done this, or even thinking about doing it, you should know that it's not a business deal, though you might think it is.

I've never given more than the price of a single session. Sometimes it's a chance I'm willing to take and the most I'd be out is the price of one session. Of course it depends on who the provider is and her reputation.
