Show me where I said you hurt animals, quote the passage here, if not STFU, in fact I should be complaigning about the veiled way you imply I hurt them. Couple of things Mr. Good and Fair Memory Galt:

1. The mentioning of the rants of a lunatic was real. That is what I thought when I heard it. I just find it hilarious that you revealed you were the person that called in and said it. I felt this way before I knew it was you JG. You get insulted pretty easily for someone that doles out the insults himself.
2. I have never said I have mob connections. You may be confusing me with another member of the board. 4. Please don't use the word "blow" when threatening me physically. The word "blow" has many negative connotations (for you JG) and I do not want people to get confused that you may mean one if those negative connotations. 5. If you do not stop acting in the manner you have, I am afraid I will have to call for a moratorium so all of the moderators may gather together in a secret location to be determined later in order to discuss the very serious issues I have presented above. Not just ECCIE mods either, but the heads of all five of the top families... er I mean hobby websites. At the meeting, sanctions may be discussed and levied on you for various offensives, such as Conduct Unbecoming a Hobbyist, which is probably the most serious of the charges and may even mean receiving a dishonorable discharge from the hobby for you.

I often listen to parts of the Shannon and Parks show on the drive home from work. I caught the beginning of this topic and unfortuanetly was only able to listen briefly when the lawyer guest came on to talk about this. Wish I had listened to more of it now. Legit topic and very good show. I tend to agree with the thought that secession will most likely not happen unless our country and Federal government became so weak that the opportunity would then arise.
On a side note, you guys make totally walking away from the hobby almost impossible, as some of these threads are just too entertaining and just have to read them. Not taking sides here, but you guys crack me up sometimes, and in a good way!

I am going to say this ONE TIME! John Galt and DirtyDog.....give it a rest.

Keep this on the topic of secession and quit nit-picking, putting words into the other person's mouth and making this personal.

DD, we differ on many subjects. But can usually find common ground. Your first response to this post in particular is exactly what I said out loud when I read this topic.

There are those in Texas who would argue, with cause, that Texas is still a separate nation. They never quite got all the i's dotted and t's crossed during Texas' joining with the US. It's like that guy running for office in MO who died so they decided to let his wife run if the dead guy got elected. You'd think someone would have complained but no one did. Unbelievable but true.

There are those in the Midwest who would not oppose a secession by California.

There are those in upstate New York (Buffalo, etc.) who would not oppose a secession from NY State by NY City. The City rattled swords and threatened and found out that upstate actually favored it. Turns out that upstate planned to tax the water supply from a huge reservior in upstate NY. The City quickly recapitulated.

An act of secession by a state will likely be viewed as a threat to the US and will be dealt with accordingly (ie, militarily).

Personally, I dont think its a subject we should even be discussing, do we really want the Feds to be paying even more attention to us. They have programs called DATA Miners, which search the internet daily for key words, I am sure this is one of those words. But hey maybe I am just a conspiracy nut.

Clearly this is a subject that causes strong emotions...because it would mean the total collapse of the US...economically, diplomatically, everything...

...but that doesn't mean its impossible. I see it as a very real option...especially in Texas. Like I said before, states are challenging the federal government right now...with drug laws, gun laws, and in Texas recently, EPA compliance.

Much of the federal authority comes from the supreme court interpretation of the commerce clause...eventually the Montana gun case will challenge this notion...and look out if the supremes have a change of heart. Our system will change radically.
