There is a special place in hell for you, Jerry Sandusky

There are no words that can be critical enough of the man who chose to protect Penn State and his legendary program instead of protecting defenseless boys from the Monster named Jerry Sandusky. JoePa had his chance to step up, as did many others at Penn State, and didn't, knowing full well the consequences to children. Damn them, and Damn Penn State. If they get anything less than SMU's punishment, then it will be a shame! An example must be made that this cannot be tolerated, and will not be tolerated. And all these people knew Sandusky had consistent access to disadvantaged children. DAMN THEM!

The same thing goes on in small towns and institutions of all kinds all over the United States and no one ever exposes it except rarely after many years have past, so please let's not act like this is some exceptionally rare occurance.

The fact is that in many common situations where older men seek to be in charge of youths, and then place themselves on a moral pedistal, this is not that uncommon.

It's going on all around you.

The only thing rare here is that they got caught.

If you don't like it then keep your kids away from moralizing egomaniacs who seek out situations where they can be leaders over children.

In Austin the biggest supporter of the children's legal advocacy office used to take the kids to his house in Pemberton Heights and do them with video cameras on. The kids were up to 12 years old, and he did each of them many times. His name was J. C****ll I think, and he knew and did business with every attorney in Austin, as he ran the biggest court reporting outfit here.

My father never let me play sports because he was disgusted with the kinds of "men" who wanted to make careers out of "leading" children [what some people call Coaches]. Not that he thought they were perverts, but that according to his code no real man wants to lord it over a bunch of kids. To him "coaches" were a bunch of blowhards who can't hack it with anyone except children.

I think he was right, and I think anyone who aspires to be an authority figure over a bunch of kids in some very competetive situation where the kid's self-esteem is all wraped up in it is...frankly....a poor excuse for a man.

Men should lead other men, and children should be led by their parents...no one else.

That might be going a little far... if a team could coach itself there would be no need for coaches

Pedophiles may seek to be in charge of kids, but that doesn't mean coaches are some sort of twisted freaks. I've had many coaches in different sports and some were role models for kids. A lot of them were lazy bums or just ass holes but they coached because they loved sports not controlling kids.

Anyways

If you do a google search on Ray Gricar you can see there is more to this story. He was a DA who had information on Sandusky but didn't think he could win a case if he prosecuted him. He never got to because he went missing in 2005 along with evidence he had. There is potentially a much larger cover up going on involving the charity itself. Perhaps someone will unravel it.

Hopefully others are prosecuted too for not stopping it earlier.

In a related though extreme example...

In Africa whenever a man can't find other men to join his armed rebellion or work his plantation for him he'll always turn to kids.

When I was in Africa I saw commonly situations where men who couldn't find leadership among other men stake themselves out as role models for kids, and then use them in armed conflicts or to harvest their Cocoa crops.

Turning to leadership over children is always a bad impulse and not one mature people seek to do.

What bothers me [and bothered my father] about sports is that these guys use kids to build glory for themselves, and the public grants them adoration when it's kids putting forward everything.

ps....

MC,

What I couldn't understand about your financial problem over the bar with your brother is why sweat so much over 80 grand? I mean, couldn't you have just gotten your boss [Marty] to co-sign a loan at a bank for it or something? Why did you have to have it all in cash and all at once? What ever happened to the SBA? That creepy guy you owed the money to.....that's not something any criminal lawyer should be doing.

Well, true a lot of people in the world will try to dominate, get over on, or fuck over someone who is weaker for their personal gain. People do it in small ways and big ways every day.

But, sports are sports, and someone has to teach them kids how to play the game.

p.s.s. It was less paper work that way plus I couldn't conceive of it failing.
