It will be temporarily in the lime light while politicians try to look good. Lets hide in the dirty shadows until then.

so - she gets married to have income , a home, and support for her kids by the man.
The man gets married for intimate partnership, and pays her the home, support, and incidentals she requires

Quid pro quo

How many weddings with the Crime-busting sheriff of TC intervene in to apply felony arrests to both bride and groom????

Marriage is prostitution - just (supposedly ) for Life.

Referring to prostitution as evil"

Sounds like the philosophy department at the academy needs to invest more in its ethics/morals curriculum. We've got an absolutist over here playing fast and loose with the concept of evil! Originally Posted by OldScratch

Although they wear cowboy hats this concept would have been very foreign to the lawman in the old west.

I think this started in the late '60s or early '70s when the radical feminist teamed up with fundamentalist to fight pornography. Anyone who spends a few minutes with the Bible and takes it seriously could never accept that women are not at least equally guilty of sexual sins when they occur in these sort of voluntary circumstances if one follows the whole purity handbook.

I guess now that they can't do the satanic panic thing and they are supposed to be nice to gay people the slovenly john enabling the sneaky trafficker makes a for a pretty good scapegoat for society's evils (where we have practically no social safety net for teenagers maturing into adulthood or mental health care and where automation is stealing a lot of good entry level jobs and what's left is low pay and menial).

It's really got to be a lot of fun for sexually repressed people to hear about such salacious abuse and then have the chance to entrap johns and arrest them as some sort of vicarious revenge. Some of what they say is true too. There are real examples of victims that fit into their narratives but it's far from the majority of sex workers. Their answer is too simple and doesn't really fix any underlying problems just like the extra harsh sentencing for a crack did not fix anything in the poor neighborhoods.

Imagine if they just hired a few good social workers that over the course of the year checked in with every single sex worker on the street or in ads to make sure that they weren't being trafficked. I'm sure it would be much cheaper than their current felony endeavor and they would get plenty of tips to go after real traffickers.

So defunding police makes more and more sense to me. They kill people and beat them and tax them and nearly no one is held accountable.
The US is the most incarcerated country in the world on both a sheer numbers and per capita basis. Texas is the sixth most incarcerated state. Hows that working out - stopped drug trafficking - no. Stopped gang violence - no. conviction rates for rape or human trafficking - minimal. Reduced drunk driving deaths - slightly. Now we will need even more prisons for people engaging in sexual exchanges. We need another approach and these assholes need to be out of a job.

'Commercial sex' appeared to be one of the 'buzz phrases' used. Did that imply strip clubs?
A few thoughts:
1) Snap Chat is starting to look more viable
2) Trekking to Dallas for fun is starting to look more necessary.
3) Becoming an expat upon retirement is beginning to look more attractive.

“Commercial sex” refers to any P4P activity. Sexual commerce is another way to look at it.

You probably don't work retail in San Francisco.

This was a Tarrant county operation, and it sounds like the arrests occurred in Fort Worth and Arlington. If you were working “the track” in Dallas, you would not have encountered them.

So far Dallas hasn’t shown a lot of interest in stepping up their efforts beyond what they’re already doing. If more true traffickers* head east out of Tarrant County I could see that attitude changing.

*When I say “true traffickers”, I’m assuming the efforts in TC were focused on street traffic and online solicitation through LC, RR and social media. I don’t pay much attention to LC, but have seen an uptick in suspicious Fort Worth and Arlington ads on RR in recent weeks. Could be coincidental, but the Sheriff did say they were continuing their efforts so it wouldn’t surprise me if this is part of that effort. Originally Posted by TinMan

The word Decoys doesn't only mean female cops in their Halloween hooker costumes standing on corners. They could be working chat rooms in all sorts of apps. There are several sites where one can send money ahead of time to get ripped off or chance upon a police decoy. Moco space, whisper, Fet , Locanto, double list, Facebook dating, Meet me, SKOUT, Tinder, Instagram, and snap chat. I heard or read somewhere I can't remember that cops were on Whisper using decoys to find Pedophiles. I thought no worries I'm not a pedophile. Did any heat about where these arrests occurred? Remember a few years ago right around the holidays when Houston got over 700 guys in a weekend. To my knowledge, most of them were guilty of responding to a back page type ad somewhere. All they had to do was mention a dollar amount and a sex act and they were guilty. I guess LE's caller ID for cellphones is better than what's available to use because they spent a couple of days rounding these guys up arresting them at home, at work at church wherever they wanted.

IMO, the traffickers aren’t impacted since they’re not the ones getting busted in this operation. Meanwhile, you have a bunch of guys fighting felony prosecutions because they wanted to bust a nut. To the extent these guys were looking for too-young providers, no tears will be shed by me. For those looking for adult action, it’s a shame many of their lives are ruined by such action.

Oldest guy was in his 70s. Maybe he was a lonely widower stuck alone in an empty house biding his time on social media after a few drinks. Just answering the ad with a picture of a woman that reminded him of his wife when she was young. That pic associated with a flirty 'woman' online was 'someone' his partially senile mind simply could not resist.

Then the guy in his 20s... Maybe he was was a soldier with PTSD who just needed to touch a woman after getting home to feel something inside to make life worth living after wasting the best years of his life on a failed war. He may have some sort of hidden disability that makes getting a 'real' girlfriend next to impossible.

A lot of the guys that are most easily swept up in these stings are the least 'with it' one way or another. There would never be a Chris Hanson type show stinging adult to adult transactions leading to 6 month to 2 year jail terms as this would highlight the inappropriate use of justice. Instead we get those orange shirt perp pics on government Facebook pages.

I wonder how many of these guys don't survive this process mentally or literally in the end. I would say I don't blame the police for just following the politicians but the sheriff with no sympathy or mercy makes me second guess.

It's the sort of logic that makes sense in a world of oak paneled government buildings or in an ornate sing songy church but not so much in the real world that exists in a real economy where people live hard lives.
