If I recall correctly, after Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast (New Jersey was slammed the hardest) in 2012, the dims rolled out a $60+ billion emergency relief bill. Problem was - something like 1/2 of the money was allocated for programs that had NOTHING TO DO WITH HURRICANE RELIEF. When Republicans voted against the bill for this reason, the dims started screaming those meanies are blocking money that is desperately needed to help devastated hurricane victims!
And people wonder why our politics is so broken!
