People would know that you aren't at home and could potentially break in? Yes, people do this irl. You could have an alarm at home and it would still take at least 10-15 mins for the cops to show up (in a good neighborhood). Safety first.

Information is power.

The facial recognition software is very handy in identifying people in footage from surveillance cameras. Big brother is watching.

Depends on where you live, at my home and office the cops normally arrive within 5 minutes even after multiple false alarms. I am also very close to the police station at both locations but they are in 2 different cities, same county. This is also why I have insurance. If someone breaks in and steals everything then I get all brand new shit, still a win for me.

Maybe people need to get better FB friends if they are getting robbed by their current ones.

This is the least of my concerns. I wouldn't care if someone knows I'm not home. Heck people have been breaking into empty houses for centuries. I might not want them to know where I'm at.

Even with the FB app I envisioned for say meeting up at say a festival you could opt certain people in, not your whole FB list

Agreed, that is where I was going but wasn't very blunt with it. If they are using their friends page as a marketing tool then odds are they have a poor IM campaign. Social Networking is a huge part of any SEO or IM campaign but your friends page isn't the way to go about it. All of my business pages stay separate from my FB page.
