So should there by any sacred "off" days?

I do take Sundays off. It is a day I take to myself and for my kiddo. Ever so often I make acceptions for some of my returning clients whom I adore, Sunday evenings.. but other than that, I think it is healthy for the body and mind to take a day out of the week for yourself. Do anything and everything un-hobby related Then come back on Monday willing and ready..lol. Mothers day and other holidays are a mandatory day off for me. I love to celebrate everything.. including 4th of July.lol. So to catch me on those days.. is a very slim chance.

Even weather days.. I remember when it was ice/snowing for days.. I had never had so many request for outcalls. I was like OMG.. too dangerous. I personally wouldn't risk myself. Then as the weather cleared.. back to normal..lol Originally Posted by melannie_star

I was going to second Sundays just cause I don't play on Sundays however human needs are human needs and if there is business, why close up shop.
Not sure about taboo days off but I sure wish Groundhog Day was for real.

For chrissakes, please take off when Aunt Flo visits! I can think of at least 2 providers that, on a repeat visit, didn't bother to tell me. I never saw them again and will not do so in the future.

We (I) are so GDF tired of hearing the old chestnut...."it musta just started". Both are well reviewed and, no I won't name them. Who they are isn't the point. If I'm bleeding from anything, I don't hobby. Gums, toes, cat scratch....Period. (Pun intended).

Why the heck can't the ladies take a day or 2 (or whatever) off? Or, tell us in advance. Mostly, I prefer L2 only anyway. I hear that lots of hobbyists do too.

The last dingbat showed up w/unshaven weeks worth of beaverhair when all previous visits were shaved/trimmed. Then when I went into guest bathroom that she used, the garbage can had evidence of Aunt Flo's visit.

In summary, please, for all of us, take off when your friend is visiting or tell us in advance and let us decide if we want to get our "red badge of courage".

This concludes my test of the emergency rant system.

One of the the advantages of working for yourself, especially in an unconventional occupation, is the ability to set your own schedule, at least within certain bounds prescribed by demand and your desire for work. I can't imagine a more personal decision than which days to take off. Purely up to you and your own economic judgment (or religious beliefs, substitution curves for money/leisure, etc.).

Please, ladies. Make those "Massage and BJ" days or social outing days.

Blood-born diseases are the fuckin' scariest. You are bleeding. You are highly susceptible to transmitting and receiving shit then. Since most men still support the cave man look down there, they may not be aware of any scratches, sores, razor micro cuts, etc.

Worse yet, they may be using the bush to hide them. Don't use the sponge trick because you need the cash. You just might enable the grave diggers among us to successfully infect you.

kinda like textush wrote, when you are the president/CPO (chief pleasure officer) of your own corporation, you get to decide if you want "sacred" days. (i had my own corp for 1 yr, so i have some experience at that)

it seems to me that it kinda boils down to ... how important to you is getting revenue? no work=no revenue.
if you wanna work everyday, do so. if you wanna take sundays off, do so. if you only wanna work 10am-4pm, do so.
your clients shouldnt be setting your schedule!!

if this is your only income, i would imagine the pressure to work is strong. if this is not your only income, maybe it's less.
because there is pleasure involved, it might depend on how much companionship and/or sex you (the provider) want.

compare/contrast this w/ all the hub-bub raised last fall about companies "forcing" people to work the major holidays.

me, i hobby when i want, where i want, and w/ whom i want. i just hope you and other providers also provide when, where, and w/ whom you want.

It's a very personal decision and also, it's completely subjective at times as well. Thanks for your always well thought out responses!

Yes, the pressure to always be available to work is certainly there. As mentioned above, sometimes I can have a super slow week and then over the weekends, it makes up for the previous slowness.

Or one can apply that same logic to a slow month as well.

This work can be really hard on the heart and head. It's difficult to explain that because so much of the time, our actual visits are a lot of fun and completely pleasurable.

But again, even with the good guys (and there are plenty) ... it's still a very difficult thing that we do. So we NEED that down time.

What I've been doing, so far, works for me. Which is taking days off when opportunity presents itself or I just need the down time. Then, I'm taking those days off.

It IS one of the biggest advantages of working for yourself. One has to be very self motivated and keep making that motivation. (Food and paying bills is a fairly decent motivator for most, I'm sure! )

However, I've also very much admired women who tell me that Sundays (or any day) are their days off each week and there is NO exception. I think that that's just fantastic.

I sincerely appreciate all of the input, folks. Thanks!
Save for a small trip and make your own vacations. I take a couple of long weekends and head for my condo in Florida for thursday thru monday trips.

See family when you can. Go for the big holidays if you can. Just laugh at everyone's dysfunction to yourself and have a good time.

but if you gotta work and you are living la vida broka, then work when the opportunity presents.

If you are a high volume girl, don't forget to take time off here and there to go have fun and rest for a day.

like all of us, you deserve to treat yourself and recharge your batteries.

Sacred days would be my birthday. I get very few cancellations, but i can always seem to count on one for my birthday.

is was about 'sacred' days to take off. for the girls. i don't think any provider considers her period as sacred days. think she meant like sunday, mothers' day, xmas, thanksgiving, kids birthdays, their own birthdays. their own special religious holidays. summer solstice, stuff like that. and i think it was meant from a provider's standpoint...not some dude that is still pissed about seeing a girl that suddenly got her period.

maybe i am wrong though.

I love a thread drift, though. If someone wishes to complain about days NOT taken off, then be my guest.

But having time for yourself, or some private time, is often very difficult to accomplish when we're so busy with life like everyone else is.

REALLY liked the summer solstice reference. Full moon tomorrow.

And I really do appreciate the input from the ladies as well!

Sincerely,
Elisabeth
