The Super Bowl Prostitute Myth

Carrie: Love that you posted. I take it as a rant against DMN. I may PM you in another venue to make sure. Originally Posted by pilot4u

I am not condoning it but I can understand why some folks tell the police that their child was in the car when their car is stolen. Simply, there is usually no investigation unless there is a child involved.

Likewise, I do think some groups greatly exaggerate the situation in order to get the public and government officials to listen to them.

Perhaps the odds makers in Vegas can add this as a betting item - over/under for the number of imported providers into Dallas. I hear that Harrah's has set the line at 36,000 ladies... while Caesar's is taking the under.
Anyone see today's full page ad in the Dallas Morning News on prostitution? It's on the back page of section A. So we're down to 10,000 escorts visiting, according to them. While I agree with the underage element, some of their stats are...funny:

7 - Number of years it takes an escort to start providing...and DIE!
0 - Number of REAL MEN who pay for sex.

Hell, Providers...half of you are on your deathbed!
I dont understand why many of you choose to ignore the human trafficing problem in dallas. It is a Real problem and girls are FORCED into prostitution, they do not choose to do it on their own terms. It's very scary. Many of the providers/clients on here have children and families. Especially those of you with daughters, how would you feel if your daughter was kidnapped and FORCED to have sex with strangers?? Very upset, as you should be. I wouldn't belittle it or what the police are trying to do to stop it. Just be grateful someone is working to stop this injustice.
News media like to exploit the public with sensational tidbits of misinformation... Originally Posted by spaceneedle

It is always the media that keeps churning the misinformation, and perpetuating stereotype when it comes to prostitution. Because if half the information they put in their reports did not have all that "over-blown" crap it wouldn't make news, and people wouldn't be interested in watching it. The sad thing is so many people are ignorant on such matters of prostitution and wouldn't really know otherwise.

Reuters Article: Super Bowl a magnet for under-age sex trade

Sadly, I'm sure there are some underage providers that are being exploited but 1,000s for the Super Bowl?!?!?
