Wilbur Smith. He has 2-3 series....and about 32 books written. Check him out.

Andy McNab's Nick Stone series of 13 books is a good read and are written by someone who actually lived the life he now fictionalizes about.
His nonfiction book Bravo Two Zero is a great read as well.
