Yep, but you have to make sure you use an encrypted proxy. For instance tunneling over SSH, VPN, etc... Otherwise if it's just a socks proxy or http proxy or web proxy you're not safe. The network admin and even other people on the network (if they have tech skills) can intercept your traffic to the proxy and see what you're doing. If the traffic is encrypted then they just get encrypted junk traffic between you and the proxy. Though the proxy does always help mask your identify from the site you're accessing, which is perhaps 1/2 the battle. I really recommend a proper tunnel like VPN, but even then a keylogger is an issue if you're not the only one with a key to your office and especially if you're not the one who setup the computer.

I NEVER use the work computer for personal stuff. Not browsing. Not banking. Not purchasing. Not credit cards. Not anything I have to log into and use a password. Nothing.

I do browse CNN, MSNBC & Yahoo. But everyone does that. The only thing work can learn from that is the kind of stories that interest me. And I'm not secretive about that in the first place.

Unfortunately, technology now is invasive. Just be on guard and protect your privacy as best as you can! Always be cautious and think ahead; is my moto.....I protect mine and others as much as I can....

A couple weeks ago I was enjoying drinks with some friends I've known since HS.
The subject of my activities came up(I don't recall) and one of my friends asked me if I was a member of this site.
Dumbfounded I confirmed then I asked how he knew expecting him to be a hobbyist also.
He said no but he knows as his job is in the IT dept. of the company he works for. And he sees all the shit you retards are browsing.
So unless you want your employer finding out your dirty little secrets I suggest purchasing a smart phone with an unlimited data plan.
Another friend also in the same field was telling me that his company alerted and cooperated with authorities at another branch out of state for catching an employee browsing pornography of an "illegal" nature.
