What happened to Lee was different. There was debris in the barrel from the last shot and a "blank" turned the debris into a deadly projectile. This was at last report a real bullet. So this prop gun was in name only. It was a real single action revolver probably a ,45, .44, or 357. There is no reason for a real gun to be used as a prop on a movie set.a real gun can be used on the set, its mainly for shooting effects that prop gun with blanks can't do. this would go under the category of "special effects" film shooting.
Being the producer of projects you are responsible and liable for everything.

You must check the safety and check the gun to make sure it has live rounds or not. Ultimately, it’s Baldwins responsibility to do these simple steps.
It was an accident.
