Bumping of threads over and over without comments is SPAM

unfortunately spamming coed threads or bumping old as the hills threads is perfectly ok. It's only when you spam reviews or bump old reviews that the rules get broken.

Is it annoying.. yes. pointable, sadly no.

As the fine dancer on the lines of whats allowed and not allowed here I thought you would have known that Whispers. Originally Posted by budman33

It's when some one pauses long enough to actually make a comment that can be found as relevant to the subject matter of the thread or in response to a post in the thread that "lines" can be danced around.... In the recent round of "It's mine... No... It's Mine"...... Neither side contributed and both could have been dealt with.

As is often the case it's an issue of common sense. If someone bumps one or two posts with some minor comments of little substantive value one would be hard pressed to make the case that it is Spam.

However, if someone were to flood the page with old bumped posts one could very easily perceive that this person's motives were something other than forum participation.

Semantic arguments do not trump common sense.

I've seen semantics win over common sense far more often

When the obvious intent is to flood the reading material of all with a preset agenda NO MATTER whether its old or new threads the INTENT is obvious. Particularly when there was a pre stated agenda, and absolutely when there was a post stated agenda.

"Bumping of posts" as far as I can tell is not a rules violation? ((If wrong, then fuck it I'm wrong)).

How many happy faces & thumbs up have we all be subjected to, seriously?

Debating the merits of a loosely written set of "rules" that mostly look like they were written on the back of napkins is foolhardy at best and a waste of time at worst. Its always going to be-and always has been-based on the mood of the MOD, his relationship to posters (READ: HISTORY), his tolerance on that particular day, his personal motivation to enforce or let slide.

All I want to see is consistent enforcement across all parties...I've always found it particularly hilarious that the ones who violate the rules the most are the ones who bitch the most about rules violations.
